June 2025’s most interesting Android downloads were not all June releases. This retrospective separates genuinely new launches from apps that became newly relevant, older games that were temporarily free, and titles an editorial team had only just discovered. The five standouts were Instagram’s short-form editor Edits, the turn-based RPG Rememento – White Shadow, bookmark manager Raindrop.io, the classic puzzle-platformer Limbo, and playful weather app Weather Master.

Raindrop.io combines bookmarks, folders or collections, and read-later functionality. That made it especially relevant in June 2025, when Pocket’s shutdown was reported; see the contemporaneous Pocket coverage for context. It is better understood as an alternative than an identical replacement. Before migrating, verify Pocket import, full-text extraction, offline reading, tags, search, browser extensions, export, and subscription limits.
The Android app was listed as free with optional in-app purchases in June 2025. The current plans and feature limits should be checked at Raindrop.io’s official site. It suits readers who want cross-device organization; people seeking a local-only or self-hosted workflow may prefer services such as Wallabag or Linkwarden. Instapaper, Readwise Reader and Omnivore are other alternatives, but feature parity requires current comparison rather than assumption.
Best creator app: Edits
Verdict: A sensible free starting point for Instagram Reels, not a universal replacement for a full video editor.

Edits, developed by Instagram, launched around late April 2025 and was therefore not technically a June release. Its appeal is a mobile-first, Reels-oriented workflow for cutting and preparing short videos. It was listed as free. The early criticism was that Instagram’s template support was not yet as mature as creators might expect.
Install it if your output is primarily short-form Instagram content and you are comfortable with Meta’s ecosystem. Skip it if you need long-form timelines, a mature template library, clearly documented offline work, or a platform-neutral workflow. CapCut, VN Video Editor, YouCut, InShot and Adobe’s mobile tools may fit different needs, but claims that any one is “better” require current hands-on feature and export checks. Review permissions, music licensing, watermark or export rules, and account requirements before building a production workflow. The official Instagram destination is instagram.com.
Best new game: Rememento – White Shadow
Verdict: Worth investigating for players who enjoy approachable turn-based anime RPGs and accept free-to-play mechanics.

Rememento – White Shadow was described as a free-to-play, turn-based gacha RPG from Blackstorm, with elemental characters, mounts, and prominent ultimate animations. The early combat was presented as accessible, with a style comparable in broad terms to games such as Honkai: Star Rail. Its June 2025 listing carried optional in-app purchases.
The recommendation comes with important unknowns. The supplied reporting did not establish monetization pressure, character rates, energy systems, advertising, account requirements, storage size, offline support, device compatibility, controller support, or long-term free-to-play balance. Treat “approachable” as a subjective gameplay description, not a guarantee that spending is unnecessary. Players who dislike randomized acquisition or recurring daily obligations should skip it. Compare those systems with Honkai: Star Rail, Genshin Impact, Wuthering Waves, Reverse: 1999 or Brown Dust 2 only after checking current store disclosures and updates.

Verdict: An excellent historical free claim, but not a new 2025 game and not a current free offer.

Limbo originally released in 2010. It appeared in the June list because the Epic Games Store reportedly offered the Android version free until June 5, 2025, with an Epic account required. Contemporaneous coverage documented that promotion, while the official Epic Games Store is the place to check any present distribution status.
Install it if you missed the original and enjoy stark, atmospheric puzzle-platformers. Be aware of spiders, disturbing imagery, and the possibility that the promotion has expired or is unavailable in your region. If you missed the claim, alternatives include Inside, Little Nightmares, Gris, Machinarium, Oddmar and Leo’s Fortune; their prices and availability vary.

Weather Master was already available for several months by June 2025, so “newly discovered” is more accurate than “new release.” The free app offered hourly and daily forecasts, AI-style descriptions, clothing guidance, and a playful concept involving angry produce.
That personality may make routine forecasts more engaging, but the supplied evidence contains no accuracy tests, forecast-provider disclosure, severe-weather reliability data, advertising review, or privacy analysis. Do not treat it as a professional alerting upgrade. Check location permissions and data practices, and keep a trusted emergency-weather source where safety matters. Google Weather, Windy, Weawow, Today Weather, AccuWeather, The Weather Channel and Weather Underground serve different audiences and should be compared on provider transparency, alerts and privacy rather than interface whimsy.
What “new” meant in this list
The June roundup used “new” broadly:
- Newly released: a product launched recently, as with Rememento’s contemporary arrival.
- Newly available or relevant: an existing service became timely, as Raindrop.io did amid Pocket’s shutdown.
- Newly updated or improved: a known app gained features worth revisiting; this status must be verified from release notes.
- Newly discovered: an app had existed but had only just come to the editor’s attention, as with Weather Master.
- Temporarily promoted: an older title became worth downloading because of a time-limited deal, as with Limbo.
That distinction matters. A store listing’s current date, regional launch, or promotion can differ from the original product release, and a recommendation list is not a release database.

- Instagram creator: Edits, provided a Reels-first workflow and Meta account relationship suit you.
- Bookmark organizer: Raindrop.io, especially if collections matter as much as reading later.
- Anime RPG player: Rememento – White Shadow, if optional purchases and gacha systems are acceptable.
- Classic-game hunter: Limbo, but only as a historical June 2025 promotion.
- Weather-app tinkerer: Weather Master, for its playful interface rather than proven accuracy.
Installation and safety checks
- Open the current official store listing and confirm the developer, country availability and last-update date.
- Read the Android version, device, tablet, Chromebook, controller and storage requirements; none were established by the June roundup.
- Check whether an Instagram, Epic, game or Raindrop.io account is required.
- Review permissions, data-safety disclosures, advertising and in-app purchase information.
- For free-to-play games, inspect rates, currencies, energy or daily limits before spending.
- For weather apps, verify the forecast provider and emergency-alert capability instead of assuming accuracy.

For a June 2025 retrospective, Raindrop.io is the best practical pick, Edits is the most relevant creator tool, Rememento is the most substantial new game, Weather Master is the most distinctive novelty, and Limbo was the best deal only while its Epic promotion lasted.
