The clearest official status update since then came on July 17, 2026. Bethesda said TES VI is its “primary development focus today,” with the majority of its team working on the game. The studio also said it is playing the game every day and is “where we planned to be.” Those are Bethesda’s descriptions of its progress; they do not indicate a completion percentage or mean the game is close to release. What Creation Engine 3 tells us
Bethesda says TES VI is being developed on Creation Engine 3, which it describes as a shared technology platform the studio has been building since Starfield launched. The statement confirms the engine name and development approach; it does not specify particular performance gains, gameplay features, or a release timeframe.

What do we know about the game?
As of the July 2026 statements, the broad development status is clearer than the game itself. Bethesda has not announced the province or setting, story, named characters, detailed gameplay, public gameplay footage, or a dated reveal event in the reviewed sources. It has also not announced a price, editions, or preorders.
Xbox leadership has offered a positive but limited progress signal. PC Gamer reported on June 11, 2026, that Xbox chief content officer Matt Booty said he had visited Bethesda and seen the game being played. Booty described it as looking amazing and coming along well, adding that Xbox would reveal it at the right time. Which platforms will The Elder Scrolls 6 be on?
Bethesda has not confirmed TES VI’s launch platforms in the latest material reviewed. Xbox and PC exclusivity has been discussed historically: a 2023 UK Competition and Markets Authority report recorded Microsoft Gaming leadership’s public remarks about TES VI being an Xbox exclusive, including a Windows PC version.
