The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy launched on April 24, 2025, for Nintendo Switch and Steam. It is an adventure/visual novel with school-life sections and grid-based tactical RPG battles. This FAQ covers the premise, gameplay, language support, editions and what the publisher’s “one hundred endings” claim does—and does not—confirm.

What is The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy?

It is an adventure and visual novel from TooKyo Games, with a story by Kazutaka Kodaka and Kotaro Uchikoshi. Takumi Sumino’s ordinary life in the Tokyo Residential Complex ends when an unknown assailant appears. Sirei gives Takumi the power called Hemoanima and sends him to Last Defense Academy.

There, Takumi and 14 other students are tasked with defending the school for 100 days against the School Invaders. Those figures describe the game’s premise, not a real-world timetable or statistic. The official English game page describes the genre, story and release details.

How does the gameplay work?

The game alternates between story and school-life activities and tactical battles. School sections let you explore the academy, gather materials, spend free time with classmates, upgrade Class Weapons and craft presents. Battles use a grid, where positioning is important. The official systems page outlines these activities.

Does the game really have 100 endings? Is there a Golden Route?

Spoiler-light answer: XSEED’s 2025 launch announcement described the story as leading to “one hundred despair-filled endings” and said player decisions can drastically alter the story and outcomes. That is the publisher’s description of branching outcomes, not a confirmed count of routes or a guide to how the endings are structured.

Last Friday: Revised Edition – A Board Game by Ares Games 2-6 Players – Board Games for Family 90 Minutes of Gameplay – Games for Family Game Night – for Teens and Adults Ages 14+ - English Version
  • Last Friday Revised Edition is the updated and revised version of our hidden movement, hunting, and deduction board game, inspired by the popular "slasher" horror movie genre. Subtle but important changes to the rules enhance the game balance, giving to the Maniac more opportunities than ever to spread terror in Camp Apache! This revised edition also features new cover art.
  • In the role of young campers during Summer in 1980, five players are challenged to survive a long weekend of terror in a camp in the woods, while one of them takes the role of the undying psychopath hiding in the shadows of the forest.
  • Depending on which of the four “chapters” you play, the goal of the game changes, creating highly engaging gameplay: in some chapters the maniac is trying to find the campers, but in others, they are trying to find him. Each chapter plays out differently as the hunter becomes the prey, and then comes back from the dead looking for revenge.
  • If a player dies during a chapter, they will come back in the next chapter with a different character, adding an additional level of replayability.
  • Last Friday Revised Edition is a game for 2 to 6 players, divided into four chapters full of horror and suspense (“Arrival at the Camp”, “The Chase”, “The Massacre”, and “The Final Chapter”), with a playing time of 30 to 45 minutes per chapter, which you can play individually or together in a long night of terror!

The official material cited here does not establish whether there is a single canon ending, a “Golden Route” where everyone survives, or how much content each outcome contains. Those specifics should not be assumed from the marketing phrase alone.

Have updates changed the game?

Yes. The official English patch index includes a Steam 1.1.0 entry that added access to Chapter Select before decision scenes and an “Extreme & Despair” battle mode, among other changes. The Japanese official news index also lists a patch 1.2.2 notice dated May 27, 2026. A version number or feature listed for one platform should not be taken as proof that the same update is available on another; consult the platform-specific official update listings.
