Deal: Walmart is listing the Meta Quest 3S 128GB for $249, down from $299. The standalone VR headset includes Batman: Arkham Shadow and a three-month Meta Horizon+ trial. That matches the lowest widely documented new-retail price seen during Cyber Monday 2025—but the deal is for the 128GB model, not the higher-capacity version.
Walmart’s page displayed the price on August 18, 2026, with free shipping and 30-day returns when sold and shipped by Walmart.com. Deal pricing, stock, seller information and return terms can change, so confirm them at checkout.
Is $249 really a record-low price?
Yes, with an important qualification. The Walmart listing shows the Quest 3S 128GB at $249, compared with a displayed reference price of $299. That is a $50 reduction, or roughly 17% off. The exact checkout price is $249; $250 is the rounded figure used in earlier deal coverage.
Engadget and WIRED previously reported the 128GB Quest 3S reaching approximately $249–$250 during Cyber Monday 2025, making this a return to the same widely documented low. Calling it an “all-time low” should not be interpreted as a claim about every used, open-box, refurbished or marketplace listing. It refers here to the lowest broadly documented price for a new retail unit in the cited coverage.

What the $249 bundle includes
- Meta Quest 3S headset
- 128GB of onboard storage
- Meta Touch Plus controllers
- Batman: Arkham Shadow

The listing also shows free shipping and free 30-day returns when Walmart.com is the seller and shipper. Check the seller line carefully: marketplace listings can have different conditions, shipping dates and return policies.
The Horizon+ offer is a trial, not a permanently free subscription. It may convert to a paid plan under the applicable terms if it is not canceled in time. Included games and promotional content may also require a Meta account and redemption before a stated deadline.
Do not assume every retailer has the same bundle
Retailer promotions can differ even when the headset price is identical. Historical Cyber Monday 2025 coverage associated Walmart and Meta with the Batman: Arkham Shadow bundle, Amazon with Gorilla Tag-related content, and Best Buy with The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners plus, at the time, a $50 Best Buy gift card.

Those older offers should not be treated as current. A gift card is also not equivalent to an instant $50 discount unless you would use it. Compare the actual game, trial length, gift-card restrictions, seller, condition and return policy—not just the headline price.
What the Quest 3S offers for the money
The Quest 3S is a wireless standalone headset, so it does not require a gaming PC to run Quest games. It uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 processor and 8GB of RAM, supports full-color passthrough for mixed reality, and includes Touch Plus controllers. Its display resolution is 1,832 × 1,920 pixels per eye.
It can also connect to a PC and support game streaming, giving buyers more flexibility than a headset limited to native standalone software. For first-time VR users, the combination of a current-generation processor, Quest’s software library and full-color passthrough makes $249 a notably low entry point.

Meta quotes up to about 2.5 hours of battery life. Real-world duration varies with the game, display brightness, passthrough use, wireless networking and other system activity, so demanding sessions may run closer to roughly two hours.

The major compromise is the optics
The Quest 3S is not optically equivalent to the Quest 3. It uses older Fresnel lenses rather than the Quest 3’s pancake lenses. That means less clarity across the view, a narrower field of view and potentially more visible glare or “god rays.” Text and small interface elements can be noticeably less comfortable, particularly for people who plan to work or read extensively in VR.

It also lacks a conventional 3.5mm headphone jack, according to Engadget’s coverage. Wireless audio or USB-C audio may be needed instead. The headset is relatively bulky compared with newer or more premium designs, and comfort depends heavily on the wearer’s facial fit and head shape. Some buyers may eventually prefer an upgraded strap, but the headset remains usable without immediately adding accessories.

That depends on how you use the headset. The 128GB model is the sensible low-cost option for people who stream media, use fitness apps, keep a rotating selection of games installed or do not mind uninstalling and reinstalling software.

Storage can become restrictive for players who want a large permanent library. Installed games and apps consume space, and larger modern games can make the capacity feel limited sooner than casual buyers expect. Because storage cannot be expanded like a memory card, frequent players should consider whether the savings outweigh the inconvenience.
