After OpTic Texas beat Vancouver Surge, Kenny said Cuyler “Huke” Garland was the right fit because the team’s pace gave it room to play flexibly. Insider Gaming reported the comments on December 14, 2024, after Huke returned to OpTic’s lineup amid discussion of Pred’s reported removal from the starting roster.
Why Kenny said Huke fit OpTic
In a post-match interview reported by Insider Gaming, Kenny described Huke as a natural match for the team’s style:

Kenny’s explanation focused on pace and flexibility: OpTic’s fast approach, he said, let the team play in different ways. The report identifies him only as Kenny, an OpTic player and two-time world champion; it does not give his full name or a more specific role.
How Huke’s return played out in the match
Insider Gaming described the game against Vancouver Surge—Huke’s former team—as his return, or “debut (again),” with OpTic. The reported sequence was not a clean sweep from the start: OpTic lost the opening Hardpoint, then won Search and Destroy 6–1 and decisively took the subsequent opportunities. The article does not give the full series score.

The pickup came amid debate over Pred’s sudden removal from OpTic Texas’ starting roster, and the report noted that some OpTic fans were unhappy with how Pred had been treated. It does not independently confirm the official roster decision or explain why Pred was removed. Nor does it establish whether the change was temporary or what either player’s current roster status is.

That distinction matters when judging the move: Kenny’s remarks explain why Huke made sense to the team’s fast-paced approach, but the report does not compare Huke and Pred or show that one was objectively the better choice. Its account is a post-match report published December 14, 2024, rather than an official roster announcement.
