The fixed piano sequence in The Rook safehouse is Mn, Pe, Cn, Ao, Pe, corresponding to piano keys 5, 4, 2, 3, 4. Use the blacklight beside the piano to match the symbols above the keys with the wall clues, then play the keys in that order. This opens the hidden door beside the piano; it is not the upstairs safe’s combination.
How to solve The Rook piano puzzle
- Pick up the blacklight beside the piano.
- Reveal the symbols. Shine the light above the piano keys and on the walls. The wall symbols are numbered and arrows indicate their order.
- Match the clue sequence to the keys. The symbols are Mn, Pe, Cn, Ao, Pe. On the piano, play keys 5, 4, 2, 3, 4, in that order.
Walkthroughs may print the labels using Cyrillic characters or Latin-looking abbreviations. If a letter is difficult to distinguish, rely on matching the symbols in your game rather than the printed labels. The sequence is fixed. PCGamesN’s key mapping and PC Gamer’s safehouse walkthrough give the same practical approach.
What the piano opens—and what it does not
Playing the sequence opens the door beside the piano and reveals the route into the basement. The upstairs safe is at the end of a longer safehouse puzzle chain, so the piano notes do not provide its code. The basement keypad and the final four-digit safe code are randomized for each player; another player’s posted combination may not work in your game.

How the piano fits into the full safehouse route

- Start the generator. Turn the middle boiler valve twice, the left fuel valve once, press the right pilot button once, then turn the boiler valve twice again. A green indicator and machine sound signal completion. The generator is a prerequisite for progressing through the basement route.
- Play the piano. Enter Mn, Pe, Cn, Ao, Pe, or keys 5, 4, 2, 3, 4.
- Crack the basement keypad. Shine the blacklight on the buttons to spot fingerprints, then use the keypad feedback to work out the five-digit code: green means a digit is correct and in the right position; yellow means it is in the code but in the wrong position; red means it is absent. Digits may repeat, and the code is randomized.
- Complete the computer cipher. The word order varies. The words used in the puzzle are BUNKER, OPEN, HOLDING, and ROOM. Use the on-screen number-to-letter cipher to enter the order shown by your game.
- Pick the lock and take the key. The key in the next locked room is needed to open another basement door.
- Tune the radio. Align the signal and listen to the repeated message. It names four objects in order. Use the blacklight to read the number attached to each object; those numbers, in message order, form your safe code.
- Open the upstairs safe. Enter the four digits you derived from your radio clues. This code is randomized, so solve it from your own clues rather than relying on a universal answer.
Safehouse puzzle reward
PowerPyx reported that completing the full safehouse puzzle chain rewards $1,000, the Case Cracker knife blueprint, and The Puzzles, Mason achievement or trophy. Push Square also reports those rewards. These are walkthrough-reported game rewards, not a separate official publisher statement.
