What is The Sandbox’s King Kong partnership?
The collaboration brought King Kong of Skull Island to Brawlers Ring, the second park in The Sandbox’s AdventureWorld virtual amusement-park neighborhood. The October 24, 2024 announcement tied the first major collaboration between The Sandbox and the franchise to a sale of Brawlers Ring LAND. The Sandbox’s announcement described the launch and sale; GamesBeat’s October 25, 2024 report called the partnership multi-year. The official announcement did not state its duration or financial value.
What features were announced?
The roadmap described in 2024 included several planned elements. Their announcement does not establish that each one was released.
- A collection of playable, titan-sized Kong avatars.
- Exclusive experiences, including a single-player adventure inspired by King Kong’s 1933 rampage through New York.
- Later multiplayer components featuring Kong-versus-Kong showdowns.
The Sandbox’s current King Kong of Skull Island experience listing identifies it as a single-player experience, names the partner account, and gives March 23, 2026 as its last update. It nevertheless displays the opening date as “Coming soon,” so the listing does not establish that the experience is currently playable. The page also shows a 4.3 rating and about 21.2K views; these are changing listing figures, not independently audited measures of audience reach or partnership performance.

What was included in the Brawlers Ring LAND sale?
The Sandbox’s October 2024 announcement described benefits attached to the historical sale. It said all Brawlers Ring LAND owners would receive custom-branded King Kong of Skull Island x The Sandbox boxing gloves. The Premium LAND tier additionally included a signed poster, a copy of King Kong of Skull Island autographed by author and illustrator Joe DeVito, and a Creator Asset Pack containing two NFTs. These were announced sale benefits, not confirmed current offers.

The counts describe the announcement-time sale, not current inventory. The announcement did not provide current availability or prices. The book is a named physical item from the bundle; its exact edition, format, and current retailer availability have not been established, so an Amazon listing should not be assumed to be the same autographed bundle.

What happened to the planned launch?
In a January 22, 2025 retrospective, The Sandbox placed King Kong of Skull Island in Brawlers Ring and said ape-sized avatars and a new experience were expected in 2025. That statement was a forecast, not confirmation of delivery. The current listing’s “Coming soon” status means the available official material does not establish that the announced experience has opened. The retrospective also said The Sandbox had more than 800 brands and partners in 2024; that company-reported platform figure says nothing by itself about this collaboration’s reach or success. The Sandbox’s AdventureWorld retrospective provides that historical context.

The franchise’s licensing page says DeVito ArtWorks, LLC controls rights to Merian C. Cooper’s King Kong, Skull Island, The History of Skull Island, King Kong of Skull Island, and derivative works in the described King Kong/Skull Island universe. That statement is specific to the rights and universe described on the page; it should not be generalized to every King Kong adaptation or all uses of the character.
