The Stolen Cat Mummy is the Vatican story mission in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. If you’re playing to unlock The Order of the Giants DLC, the key milestone is starting the objective “Bring the Parchment to Antonio”—not finishing the entire mission.
Mission route through the Vatican
Walkthroughs lay out the mission as a progression from the Apostolic Library and Post Office to the Tower of Nicholas V, then into underground areas and the Fountain of Confession sequence before Indy escapes the Vatican. These are third-party route guides, not an official, exhaustive mission walkthrough.
- Begin with Antonio and the Apostolic Library. Follow the story objectives that bring Indy to Antonio and into the library.
- Explore the Post Office. PowerPyx recommends visiting the Post Office and getting the camera early. Treat this as helpful exploration advice, not a mandatory story objective. PowerPyx’s mission walkthrough covers its route.
- Reach the Tower of Nicholas V. Continue through the story route to the tower and the Sacred Wounds puzzle. For puzzle-specific directions, consult a full walkthrough rather than relying on this high-level route.
- Search the underground sections. The mission continues below ground, with area maps and notes tracked in guides such as TrueAchievements’ Vatican walkthrough.
- Complete the Fountain of Confession sequence and escape. The route proceeds to the Fountain of Confession before the Vatican escape. Game8’s mission guide and the video walkthrough provide further route guidance.
Maps and notes: check before leaving an area
Walkthroughs list maps and notes across the Vatican mission, including underground maps and the Vatican City Map. Check the Journal as you progress so you can spot a missing entry while you are still in the relevant section; that is a practical tracking tip, not a requirement set by Bethesda.
Do not assume every section can be revisited. Bethesda Support warns that some areas are not revisitable, while also noting that the Vatican introduction can be revisited through a door in the Vatican. That is not a promise that every quest space or collectible can be recovered later. If you are missing a particular note, first identify its area, then use an area-specific guide to determine whether it remains accessible. A player discussion illustrates the kind of confusion that can arise when trying to return to a location, but it does not establish that this is a common problem. - Cat vs Mice: Strap squeakers to your feet and steal the cheese from the blindfolded cat without getting swatted. It's one of the silliest halloween activities and party games for kids around.
- The Big Cheese: Bank 5 small cheeses on your Home Base first, then make your move for the Big Cheese to win. These physical games for kids and movement games for kids keep them active and off screens.
- Built for Chaos: Gather the kids. From birthday party games for kids to summer games for kids, indoor recess games, and family game night, this is the game they will be begging to play over and over.
- How to Play: A bildfolded cat guards the cheese while the sqeaky mice try to steal it. Bank 5 small cheese and the big cheese to win. Family games for kids and adults don't get sillier than this.
- What's Inside: Every box includes 20 small cheese, 1 Big Cheese, 4 Home Base Cards, 1 Blindfold, 1 Inflatable Paw, and 4 Squeaky Paw Pads. A kids gifts and fun gifts pick ready to play out of the box.
How this mission unlocks The Order of the Giants
Bethesda Support says players who have not finished the base game need to have started “Bring the Parchment to Antonio” in The Stolen Cat Mummy to access The Order of the Giants. Bethesda’s announcement says that, once players reach this point, the “A Mystery Begins” fieldwork appears in the Journal. It directs players to Father Ricci outside the west side of Belvedere Courtyard, south of the Blackshirt barracks. Bethesda also states that the base game is required to play the DLC.
