In Path of Exile 2, reach The Titan Grotto through the Valley of the Titans by activating three Ancient Seals. Inside, find the Rite of Flame objective and defeat Zalmarath, the Colossus, at the Dais of Reckoning to earn the Flame Ruby for Zarka. The area layout varies between instances, so use landmarks rather than expecting a fixed map.
How to reach The Titan Grotto
- Use the Desert Map in the Ardura Caravan to travel to the Valley of the Titans.
- Explore the Valley and activate all three Ancient Seals. Activating the third opens the entrance, called the Clasped Entry.
- Enter The Titan Grotto and activate its waypoint if you find it. Game8 recommends doing so to avoid repeating the Desert Map and Valley route; waypoint availability and convenience are guide-reported details.
The entrance and Ancient Seals reset in new instances, so you may need to locate and activate them again when you enter a fresh instance. See the PoE2DB Act 2 guide for the quest route.
What to do in the grotto
- Search the area for the Rite of Flame objective.
- Find the Dais of Reckoning and defeat Zalmarath, the Colossus.
- Collect the Flame Ruby and return it to Zarka.
Zarka then gives you an Uncut Support Gem Level 1 and the Horn of the Vastiri quest item. The next step is to travel to the Halani Gates and sound the Horn from the top of the Ardura Caravan to clear the sandstorm, according to PoE2DB’s Act 2 walkthrough.
Finding the arena in a changing layout
The Titan Grotto is described as a linear area, but its exact arrangement varies. The Path of Exile 2 Wiki area entry notes multiple paths leading to the arena. A community Titan Grotto layout guide documents eight variants: in three, the entrance and arena share an edge; in the other five, the arena is in the opposite corner. These are guide observations, not a guaranteed map pattern.
#1 Best Overall
- Use checkpoints and the two bridges along the zone’s long side as landmarks, as described in the community layout guide.
- Follow paths toward the arena rather than relying on a single remembered route.
- The Titan’s Sword is an optional landmark. The same guide reports that interacting with it drops a random Lesser Rune, but its location is not predictable.
Any map or layout image should be treated as an example, not a promise that your instance will match it.
How to handle Zalmarath, the Colossus
Zalmarath fights at the Dais of Reckoning. The arena can be altered by area-covering attacks and hazards, so keep track of both the boss and the space around you. PoE2DB also advises finding the three Ritual Altars, interacting with them, and defeating the enemies they summon to cleanse the Ritual.
Rank #2
Game8’s Zalmarath boss guide describes a sequence in which the boss slams its sword into the arena’s center and then fires a beam across the arena. The guide recommends using the embedded sword as cover. Treat that as a guide-reported tactic, and react to the attack pattern you see in your encounter.

The listed baseline area level is 22. The area-level entry on the Path of Exile 2 Wiki says it rises to 25 after defeating either Azarian, the Forsaken Son, or Iktab, the Deathlord, and to 27 after defeating both. A level 22 listing and a level 27 listing can therefore reflect different Act 2 progression states.
