Yes. CD PROJEKT RED says PC hotfix 5.00c fixes the problem that blocked players from launching The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Classic (1.32). The developer announced the hotfix on 1 October 2026 for Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, Battle.net and Xbox Play Anywhere on PC. The newer Remastered edition remains available; the Classic fix is not announced for console editions.
What hotfix 5.00c changes
In its 1 October 2026 PC patch notes, CD PROJEKT RED states: “Fixed an issue where it wasn’t possible to launch the Classic (1.32) version of the game.” The announcement names these PC distribution routes:

The notice announces availability on those platforms; it does not independently confirm that the update had finished reaching every storefront. Check your platform for the current game update.
Other fixes in the PC hotfix
The same notes list fixes for saving and loading when the Documents folder path contains special characters, audio volume after navigating pause-menu tabs, marketing telemetry settings and the GOG achievements list. They also describe visual adjustments in Velen to Bloom, vegetation lighting, saturation and Path Tracing lighting, and a reversal of a HairWorks change that had caused significant performance and visual issues for some players.

How to launch Classic 1.32
The hotfix notes confirm that the launch issue was fixed, but do not give launcher steps for selecting Classic. CD PROJEKT RED’s Remastered FAQ says players may be able to revert to an earlier version depending on platform, without spelling out the procedure in the FAQ. Use the current instructions for your specific store or platform rather than relying on a universal menu path.
Does the Classic fix apply to consoles?
The 5.00c announcement is explicitly a PC hotfix. It does not say that PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S or Nintendo Switch 2 received a Classic/Remastered selector or the Classic-launch fix. A separate 5.00b notice dated 1 October 2026 covers PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Play Anywhere on PC, but does not announce the Classic fix for consoles.
Is Remastered still available?
Yes. CD PROJEKT RED’s 29 September 2026 launch announcement says Remastered is available to owners on GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, Battle.net, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Its FAQ lists the Remastered upgrade for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. The launch announcement describes it as a free upgrade for qualifying owners and says it includes the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions.
The PC Classic fix and Remastered availability are separate facts: the former restores launching the older 1.32 build on named PC storefronts; the latter remains the newer edition on the listed platforms. The announcement does not establish that every platform has the same version-switching controls.

What happens to saves, skills and achievements?
CD PROJEKT RED’s FAQ says existing The Witcher 3 saves can be used in Remastered. Because the skill system was overhauled, skills reset; achievements already earned in the base game and expansions carry over. This FAQ statement concerns bringing existing saves into Remastered, not guaranteed compatibility in both directions between Classic and Remastered.
Which version should you use?
The official notices establish the platform and version distinctions, but do not provide performance benchmarks or compatibility guarantees for individual mods. Choose based on the version your setup requires and the platform instructions available to you; do not assume Classic is faster or that a particular mod requires it without checking that mod’s documentation.
