CD Projekt Red has not published an exact map area for The Witcher IV. GamesRadar reports that executive producer Gosia Mitręga and game director Sebastian Kalemba described its map as “more or less” the same size as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. That is an approximate comparison reported from interviews—not a confirmed measurement in square miles or kilometres—and the comparison’s geographic scope remains unclear.
Has CD Projekt Red officially confirmed The Witcher 4 map size?
Not as a precise area. The studio’s official announcement identifies The Witcher IV as an upcoming single-player, open-world role-playing game and successor to The Witcher 3, but does not give its map dimensions. GamesRadar attributes the “more or less” same-size comparison to interviews with Mitręga and Kalemba. It is fair to describe that as a reported statement from studio leaders, but not as an official square-mile or square-kilometre figure.
The announcement, dated December 13, 2024, introduced the game as the start of a new Witcher saga with Ciri as its protagonist. It did not specify the full geography players will be able to explore.
What does “more or less the same size” mean?
The phrase suggests a broad comparison with The Witcher 3, not an exact measurement. GamesRadar says it is unclear whether the comparison includes the Skellige and Toussaint areas or refers only to the main map region. Without that scope, assigning an area to either game or calculating a precise size comparison would be speculation.

CD Projekt Red has separately described The Witcher 3’s open world as 35 times larger than The Witcher 2’s in a historical strategy presentation. That figure concerns The Witcher 3’s scale relative to its predecessor; it does not establish The Witcher IV’s size.
Does the Kovir technology demo reveal the full map?
No. The 2025 technology demo presents a new region, Kovir, but CD Projekt Red and PlayStation caution that it is not gameplay from the finished game. It demonstrates a setting and technology, not the final map’s boundaries, total area, or complete list of regions.
