The company says it is intended for copper, brass, chrome and nickel surfaces, as well as careful cleaning of CPU dies and heatspreaders. Those are manufacturer claims; no independent performance testing is established in the available information.
What is TG Metal Polish & Restore used for?
Thermal Grizzly describes TG Metal Polish & Restore as a paste for cleaning and polishing metal surfaces in PC hardware and technical applications. Its central stated use is cleaning up gallium residue, including residue associated with liquid-metal thermal interface material. The company says a surfactant in the paste binds gallium and helps keep it from re-adhering during cleaning; that mechanism has not been independently verified.
The manufacturer also says the paste removes oxidation residue and other contaminants, polishes matte or tarnished areas, and provides temporary protection against oxidation. Which surfaces can it be used on?
Thermal Grizzly names copper, brass, chrome and nickel. It also describes the paste as suitable for CPU dies and heatspreaders, but silicon dies and GPU chips need particularly careful handling: the manufacturer warns against excessive pressure when cleaning these sensitive components.

Do not apply it to painted or powder-coated surfaces. Thermal Grizzly recommends hand application with the included cleaning pen. If using a mechanical or electric tool, the company says friction heat must not exceed 60 °C; this is the manufacturer’s caution, not an independently established safety threshold.
How to clean up liquid-metal residue
- Apply and work the paste by hand with the included pen, taking care around delicate components. Avoid excessive pressure on silicon surfaces such as CPU dies or GPU chips.
- Remove the paste and loosened residue from the surface. Before applying liquid metal again, clean the area until it is residue-free.
- For the final cleaning, Thermal Grizzly recommends TG Cleaning Wipes or isopropyl alcohol.
Follow the product instructions and avoid letting polish remain on the surface when preparing it for a new liquid-metal application.

Storage and launch details
Thermal Grizzly says the paste can be stored for up to three years after opening and should be protected from direct sunlight. Its October 1, 2026 announcement also introduced a separate set of 20 TG Polishing Cloths, described as due the following week. That announcement does not establish whether the cloth set is currently in stock.
