Flitz Paste Metal Polish and Autosol Metal Polish are documented options for ordinary copper tarnish and oxidation, but their cited product information does not establish gallium removal or suitability for sensitive PC dies. There is no independent head-to-head evidence showing which polish performs best.

These distinctions are about what each manufacturer documents, not a ranking of polishing strength or safety. The available sources do not compare the products on the same copper surface or establish comparative abrasiveness, scratch removal, finish, or cleaning efficiency.
Why TG is the more targeted option for PC hardware
Thermal Grizzly says its paste removes oxidation residue and contaminants, polishes matte or tarnished areas, and provides temporary oxidation protection. The company also says its surfactant technology binds gallium so it does not re-adhere during cleaning. Those are manufacturer claims; they are not independent test findings. In its product announcement dated 2026-10-01, Thermal Grizzly states: “TG Metal Polish & Restore is a specially developed polishing paste optimized for removing gallium residue.” Thermal Grizzly announcement
The product set (MPN TG-MPR-01; EAN 4260711993077) includes one paste, one cleaning/polishing pen, ten 100 × 100 mm cloths, and ten 25 × 100 mm cloths. Thermal Grizzly says the larger cloths can be used by hand or cut to size. Thermal Grizzly product information

Using polish near a CPU or GPU die
A copper heat spreader and an exposed silicon die are different surfaces. Thermal Grizzly specifically advises careful handling of silicon surfaces such as CPU dies and GPU chips, and says to avoid excessive pressure. Its guidance is product-specific and does not establish that Flitz or Autosol is suitable for exposed silicon.
- Apply TG by hand using the included polishing pen, following the manufacturer’s directions. Do not use it on painted or powder-coated surfaces.
- If using a mechanical or electric polishing aid, such as a Dremel polishing attachment, keep friction-generated heat at or below 60 °C. Thermal Grizzly also warns that excessive axial movement can make the paste lose adhesion to a polishing attachment.
- Before applying liquid metal, clean the surface again until no polish residue remains. Thermal Grizzly gives its Cleaning Wipes or isopropyl alcohol as examples.
These are Thermal Grizzly’s instructions, not a guarantee of compatibility with every part or coating. Its product information says that, after opening, the paste may be stored for up to three years if protected from direct sunlight. Thermal Grizzly product information

Which one should you choose?
- For gallium residue on copper PC hardware: TG is the only option here whose manufacturer explicitly identifies gallium residue and copper PC hardware as intended uses.
- For ordinary copper tarnish or oxidation: Flitz and Autosol both document copper polishing and tarnish or oxidation removal. Follow their respective application directions and surface restrictions.
- For a sensitive die or an unknown coating: Do not infer compatibility from copper use alone. The cited Flitz and Autosol information does not cover PC dies, and TG itself calls for care on silicon and excludes painted or powder-coated surfaces.
No sourced controlled comparison establishes that one product is the best overall, safer, or equally effective on gallium residue. Choose based on the surface and contaminant, and stay within the product maker’s stated use and cautions.
