Historical deal: WePC reported on July 9, 2025, that MSI’s Codex Z2 A8NVP-436US gaming desktop was $600 off—about 27% below its listed price—during Amazon’s Prime Day promotion. The deal is expired and should not be presented as a live offer in 2026. Its headline hardware was a Ryzen 7 8700F, GeForce RTX 5070, 32GB of DDR5 memory, and a 2TB NVMe SSD.

The “lowest price ever” claim should be read narrowly: it referred to the reported record price for that specific listing at the time, not the lowest price ever for every RTX 5070 gaming PC. WePC’s original coverage confirms the discount, but the available indexed material does not reliably verify the final checkout price.

What was actually on sale?

The deal concerned the MSI Codex Z2 Gaming Desktop, SKU A8NVP-436US. That model number matters because MSI sells multiple Codex systems with similar names but different processors, graphics cards, memory capacities, storage, power supplies, and chassis configurations.

Component Historical deal configuration
Brand and series MSI Codex Z2
Exact SKU A8NVP-436US
Processor AMD Ryzen 7 8700F, 8 cores and 16 threads; 4.1GHz base clock and up to 5.0GHz boost clock
Graphics Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070
Graphics memory 12GB
System memory 32GB DDR5
Storage 2TB M.2 NVMe SSD
Operating system Windows 11 Home
Other advertised features USB Type-C connectivity and VR readiness

Those are the headline specifications reported for A8NVP-436US. The available coverage does not establish the exact SSD manufacturer, motherboard model, memory-module arrangement, power-supply wattage or brand, cooling configuration, or RTX 5070 board variant. Those details can materially affect upgradeability, noise, thermals, and long-term value.

Price and “lowest ever” context

WePC described the promotion as a $600 saving, or approximately 27%, during Amazon Prime Day on July 9, 2025. The indexed deal report does not provide reliable enough evidence here to state the final price with confidence. If a retailer’s original price was $2,199.99, $600 off would imply $1,599.99, but that arithmetic is not a substitute for an archived Amazon listing or price-history record.

For that reason, the defensible wording is that the exact A8NVP-436US was reported at its lowest recorded price at that point in time. It should not be described as the current lowest-priced RTX 5070 desktop, or as the all-time cheapest RTX 5070 prebuilt.

Later deals demonstrate why the distinction matters. Tom’s Hardware reported an Intel-based MSI Codex R2 RTX 5070 at $1,399.99 through Woot on July 31, 2026. PC Gamer reported a different CyberPowerPC RTX 5070 system at $1,349 through Walmart on June 29, 2026. Neither price disproves a record low for the older MSI Z2 SKU: they are different machines, retailers, and dates.

Is the hardware good for gaming?

Yes, this is fundamentally a 1440p gaming desktop. The RTX 5070 is a midrange GeForce RTX 50-series card with 6,144 CUDA cores, 12GB of memory, DLSS support, and frame-generation features. It should be a strong fit for high or ultra settings at 1440p, although actual frame rates vary by game, graphics preset, ray-tracing workload, and DLSS mode.

  • 1440p: The natural target, including high-refresh gaming in many titles.
  • 1080p: More than adequate, particularly for competitive games and high refresh rates.
  • 4K: Viable in selected games with upscaling and, where appropriate, frame generation; do not interpret that as a promise of native 4K at maximum settings in every title.
  • Ray tracing: Best evaluated together with DLSS and the game’s performance settings rather than treated as free extra image quality.
  • 12GB VRAM: Reasonable for many 1440p workloads, but less comfortable for demanding 4K games, large texture packs, and future titles.

The Ryzen 7 8700F is an 8-core, 16-thread desktop processor. It is a sensible pairing for the RTX 5070, though buyers focused on CPU-heavy simulation games, competitive gaming at very high frame rates, or extensive productivity workloads should compare the processor against newer alternatives rather than judging the system by its GPU alone.

What needs checking before buying a similar listing?

Prebuilt specifications are not interchangeable just because the case says “Codex Z2.” MSI’s official specification page lists SKU-specific configurations and warranty information. Before paying, confirm all of the following:

  1. Part number: Make sure the listing identifies A8NVP-436US—or clearly identify the different SKU being offered.
  2. Memory layout: Check whether 32GB is installed as two matched modules or one stick. Dual-channel memory is preferable for gaming.
  3. Power supply: Verify wattage, efficiency certification, manufacturer, connectors, and whether it leaves headroom for upgrades.
  4. Storage: Confirm the SSD model and whether a second M.2 slot or 2.5-inch bay is available.
  5. Motherboard and case: Check expansion slots, Wi-Fi, USB ports, cooler clearance, and access to standard replacement parts.
  6. Graphics card: Confirm that the listing contains a desktop RTX 5070, not a laptop using the same broad product branding.
  7. Support: Review the seller, fulfillment method, return window, warranty provider, and damage-on-arrival procedure.

MSI’s documentation indicates that Codex Z2 specifications vary by exact configuration and lists a one-year warranty for applicable systems. The warranty terms shown at checkout or on the specific product page should take precedence.

MSI’s later store listing shows another Codex Z2 with the same broad CPU, GPU, memory, and storage combination. How the deal holds up against alternatives

The 2025 MSI configuration had two practical advantages over many stripped-down prebuilts: 32GB of RAM and a 2TB SSD. Those reduce the likelihood of immediate upgrades, and the complete system is ready to use out of the box.

However, comparison should use the final delivered price—not only the advertised discount. A cheaper competing RTX 5070 desktop may include only 1TB of storage, a weaker CPU, less memory, or an inadequately documented power supply. Conversely, a system priced near $1,800 or more without a monitor or better components is difficult to justify when later RTX 5070 prebuilts reached $1,399.99 and $1,349.

A self-built comparison should include the complete equivalent: Ryzen 7 8700F-class CPU, RTX 5070, 32GB DDR5, 2TB NVMe storage, motherboard, case, cooler, power supply, Windows license, and assembly time. The prebuilt premium can be worthwhile if the warranty, component quality, and support are clear; it is less attractive when key parts are undisclosed.

Buying checklist for any current offer

  • Confirm the exact SKU and desktop RTX 5070.
  • Check the price after coupons, tax, shipping, and any required membership.
  • Verify whether the system is new, renewed, or sold by a marketplace seller.
  • Compare the full component list with current RTX 5070 systems.
  • Inspect return and warranty terms before opening the box.
  • Look for evidence of the PSU, memory arrangement, SSD model, and cooling hardware.
  • Do not assume a cached Prime Day price is still available.

Amazon prices can change with inventory, seller, location, clipped coupons, Prime eligibility, and delivery ZIP code. The checkout total is the price that matters.

Verdict

The MSI Codex Z2 A8NVP-436US was a strong Prime Day deal for a plug-and-play 1440p gaming PC when WePC covered it on July 9, 2025. Its RTX 5070, 32GB of DDR5, and 2TB SSD made the configuration more useful than many entry-level prebuilts. But the promotion is historical, the exact final price is not reliably documented in the available indexed material, and “lowest price ever” applies only to that specific listing and period—not to every RTX 5070 gaming PC.
