Toby Fox says he believes Deltarune Chapter 6 can be released in 2027, and confirms it is planned to arrive by itself rather than bundled with another chapter. That is an expectation, not a firm launch date: his Summer 2026 newsletter gives no month or day.
When is Deltarune Chapter 6 coming out?
Fox’s Summer 2026 UNDERTALE/DELTARUNE newsletter says, “I believe we will be able to release Chapter 6 in 2027.” He does not give a specific date, and the wording is a forecast rather than a dated commitment. Release timing could change as development continues.
Chapter 5 had arrived about a month before that newsletter. Its previously announced release date was June 25, 2026, according to the earlier official update.
Will Chapter 6 be shorter, and what will it cover?
Fox describes Chapter 6 as “a shorter, straightforward chapter that focuses on one aspect of the story.” He says Chapter 5 completed the necessary setup for Chapters 6 and 7. Beginning with Chapter 6, the story will start to address its main mysteries, though Fox says one matter will be clarified while other things remain untouched.

That description indicates a focused installment, not a promise that every major question will be answered. Fox did not specify the chapter’s length or identify which mystery will be clarified.
What is the current development status?
In the Summer 2026 newsletter, Fox said he had recently finished writing several sequences toward Chapter 6’s final third and was rearranging rooms to fit the new structure. The next stated milestone is to make those adjustments, tie the chapter together, and reach a rough draft playable from beginning to end.
Fox said that, barring major restructuring, the boss and cutscene polish were the main areas still expected to require development time. That outlook depends on the chapter’s structure holding; it is not a guarantee that the remaining work will be limited to those tasks.
What did the previous update say about Chapters 6 and 7?
The June 2026 newsletter described Chapter 6 work across several areas. Cutscenes and NPC interactions were progressing well; basic field mechanics, including wall climbing and puzzles, had been created, although some rooms remained to be made. Ordinary enemies and their bullet patterns were mostly complete, while work continued on the final battle’s bullet patterns.

Fox also said at the time that it was not unrealistic for some team members to begin Chapter 7 before the end of 2026. That was a June forecast, not confirmation in the later newsletter that Chapter 7 development had begun.

Fox says he does not personally read or watch fan theories because he already knows the game. He nevertheless praises speculation as part of the experience and encourages fans to keep making theories, art, and stories while Deltarune is ongoing. His caveat is that players may not have all the information, or may combine details differently from the way he intended.
Is new Deltarune merchandise coming?
Fox says Fangamer has released Chapter 5 merchandise and plans additional items, including goods for earlier chapters. He mentioned “a Queen plush or something” as a possibility, not an announced product. He also told Fangamer not to expect much merchandise for Chapters 6 and 7. The newsletter does not establish that any particular item is currently available.
