Yes. Todd Howard reportedly invited Obsidian developers to visit the New Vegas set built for Fallout Season 2. The invitation recognizes the studio’s connection to Fallout: New Vegas, but the available reporting does not name visitors or say they helped make the show.
What Todd Howard said about the invitation
PC Gamer reported that Howard invited Obsidian developers to the set, and GameSpot also reported the visit and attributed the invitation to Howard. The invitation was tied to Obsidian’s work on Fallout: New Vegas. Neither report establishes which developers attended, whether the invitees accepted, or when a visit took place. PC Gamer’s invitation report was not accessible in full, so its reported details are best kept attributed rather than expanded into a more specific account. GameSpot’s report likewise supports the invitation, not a claim about production involvement.
Why the New Vegas set mattered
New Vegas is a familiar, iconic location for players of the game, and Season 2 recreated it for the television series. In a separate PC Gamer interview published December 24, 2025, Howard said he saw the location first while it was being built and later when it was finished. He praised production designer Howard Cummings and his team for their work. Howard’s production interview describes the set from his perspective, rather than providing a visitor list or a production timeline.
Howard also emphasized the show’s attention to physical construction and detail, saying that the production is “all practical, or most of it.” That qualification matters: his comment praises the substantial practical work without claiming every element was built physically. He described the world itself as the show’s biggest character and said the team treated its locations with “obsessive authenticity.”
#1 Best Overall
- Beyond the Wasteland: The world of New Vegas is more expansive than ever. Each new distinct area presents a fresh set of branching-quests, remarkable personalities and more chances to play the Savior or the Pariah to the natives of New Vegas.
- Dead Money: Lured into a trap masquerading as the Sierra Madre Casino, you are thrown into a high stakes game where you'll have to work with three other lost souls if you want to survive.
- Honest Hearts: An expedition into Utah's Zion National Park goes horribly wrong and you become embroiled in a war between tribes and put into a conflict between a New Canaanite missionary and the mysterious Burning Man.
- Old World Blues: Transported to the Big MT research crater, you are enlisted by the Think Tank to save them from their own science experiments that have gone horribly out of control.
- Lonesome Road: Ulysses, the original Courier Six, contacts you and promises to answer why he refused to deliver the Platinum Chip at the start of Fallout: New Vegas, but only if you make one last journey into the treacherous canyons of the Divide.
Did Obsidian help make Fallout Season 2?
The invitation alone does not show that Obsidian developers consulted on, designed, or contributed to the show’s production. It is evidence of a gesture of respect toward the studio associated with Fallout: New Vegas, not evidence of a new game project, a sequel, or a broader account of the relationship between Bethesda and Obsidian. Howard’s separate remarks about the set describe the television team’s work; they do not identify Obsidian as part of that team.
