Some documented crashes have been fixed. Aspyr’s May 1, 2026 Challenge Mode Patch 2 says it addressed three random crashes on PS5 and PS4. That does not establish that every cause of crashing is fixed. The latest located official patch, Challenge Mode Patch 4, was released October 6, 2026; its fix list does not name another PS5 crash correction.
Which Tomb Raider crashes have been fixed?
Aspyr’s updates identify two specific pieces of crash-related history, with different scopes:
- Tomb Raider II, Home Sweet Home: Aspyr’s March 12, 2024 Update 1 notes say a crash in this level was resolved. The notes do not say the issue was exclusive to PS5. Read the Update 1 patch notes.
- Three random crashes on PS5 and PS4: In Challenge Mode Patch 2, dated May 1, 2026, Aspyr lists “3 crashes addressed (random crashes)” in its PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 section. It does not identify the scenarios or say all crash causes were eliminated. Read the Patch 2 notes.
Does the latest patch fix PS5 crashing?
The latest located official release is Challenge Mode Patch 4, dated October 6, 2026, for PS4 and PS5. Its published fixes cover progression, translation, movement and other bugs, but do not list a PS5-specific crash fix. Patch 3, dated August 20, 2026, likewise lists general and PS5-specific fixes without naming a PS5 crash correction. Aspyr’s Patch 4 announcement says, “This patch includes bug fixes across all platforms.” That broad wording is not a specific confirmation that ongoing crashes are fixed.
Check Aspyr’s Patch 4 notes and Patch 3 notes for their listed changes.

What to do if the game still crashes on PS5
- Check for the game update. Confirm that the available update is installed. The US PlayStation Store lists the collection as PS4 and PS5 software, released February 14, 2024, and notes that the PS5 may need the latest system software. View the US PlayStation Store listing.
- Document what happened. Note whether the crash was in Tomb Raider I, II or III; the level; the action immediately before the crash; whether it happens repeatedly; the installed game version; and any PS5 error code.
- Report a crash that persists. Aspyr’s April 1, 2026 Challenge Mode Patch 1 announcement says the team was reviewing crashes and related problems and asks players to report issues not addressed by the patch. Send the details you recorded through Aspyr’s Patch 1 support page.
The official notes reviewed do not establish reinstalling the game, rebuilding the PS5 database, changing controllers or adding a cooling accessory as fixes for this game-specific problem. Without a reported scenario or error code, there is not enough evidence to attribute a persistent crash to a particular cause.
