What it is

LiveNBTEditor lets you edit Minecraft NBT data while the game is running, applying valid changes on the next game tick without file editing, a world reload or a mod loader. It pairs a Java agent that runs a WebSocket server with a Windows desktop editor; the agent can run wherever Minecraft runs, including Linux dedicated servers. The editor can change player data and world settings such as gamerules, time, weather, spawn, world border and difficulty. It also supports all 41 player inventory slots, with searchable item and enchantment pickers based on its bundled Minecraft 26.3 registry. Other tools include live watches, deep search, SNBT editing, clipboard support, keyboard shortcuts, undo and redo. SNBT copy and paste can round-trip with NBT Studio. The project specifies Minecraft Java 26.3 and says other versions are unsupported. The agent binds to loopback by default and requires a per-install token, but the WebSocket connection is unencrypted; remote access should use a firewall or SSH tunnel. The project warns that editing can corrupt data and recommends backing up important worlds. It uses the MIT License.

Good, and not so good

  • Edits apply live without a world reload
  • Does not require a mod loader
  • Edits player data and world settings
  • Includes inventory tools, watches and undo and redo
  • Supports Minecraft Java 26.3 only
  • Desktop editor requires Windows
  • WebSocket connection is unencrypted
  • Live edits can corrupt data

Who it suits

LiveNBTEditor is intended for editing your own single-player game or a server you control. It may suit players who want to change NBT data without a mod loader, provided they use Minecraft Java 26.3 and have a Windows editor.

LiveNBTEditor offers live NBT changes and a range of player, world and inventory tools, but its version support is limited to Minecraft Java 26.3. Back up important worlds, and account for the unencrypted connection when connecting remotely.
