There is no single timeless winner: Mobile Legends: Bang Bang had the highest peak event viewership in Esports Charts’ H1 2026 ranking, while League of Legends led its full-year 2025 ranking. The result changes with the measurement and time window. Here are the rankings, what the numbers mean, and how to choose a game to watch or play.
Which esports games drew the biggest peak audiences?
Esports Charts ranks games here by the highest observed concurrent audience for an event during the stated period. A peak is not an average audience, total hours watched, or count of unique viewers.
H1 2026 peak-viewer ranking
These are Esports Charts’ reported highs for the first half of 2026, not full-year results. The largest events for some games had not yet taken place when the half-year report was published.
| Rank | Game | Peak viewers | Event associated with the peak |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Mobile Legends: Bang Bang | 5,680,511 | M7 World Championship |
| 2 | Counter-Strike | 2,752,353 | IEM Cologne Major 2026 |
| 3 | League of Legends | 2,270,021 | LCK 2026 Road to MSI qualifier final |
| 4 | PUBG Mobile | 1,077,552 | PUBG Mobile Global Open 2026 Season 1 |
| 5 | VALORANT | 1,071,916 | VALORANT Masters London 2026 |
See Esports Charts’ H1 2026 ranking and event context. Its report attributes Mobile Legends’ lead mainly to M7, held in January. Counter-Strike’s high came from the IEM Cologne Major final. League of Legends’ third-place H1 position does not establish a full-year decline: its biggest annual events, including Worlds, were still ahead.

- Upgraded Microphone for Clarity and Accuracy: Captures high-quality audio for clear voice chat and calls. The mic is noise-cancelling and features a built-in mesh filter to omit disruptive sounds and LED mic mute indicator lets you know when you’re muted.
- Durability, for the Toughest of Battles: The headset is flexible and features an aluminum frame so it’s resilient against travel, accidents, mishaps, and your ‘level-headed’ reactions to losses and defeat screens.

How does hours watched change the picture?
Peak viewers capture a single high point; hours watched add up viewing over time. Stream Hatchet’s Q1 2026 report measured esports hours watched across platforms it tracks and included only official tournaments in its esports measure. Its leading figures were:
| Game | Esports hours watched in Q1 2026 |
|---|---|
| League of Legends | 154 million |
| Mobile Legends: Bang Bang | 146 million |
| Counter-Strike | 140 million |
| Dota 2 | 86 million |
| Call of Duty | 63 million |
| Honor of Kings | 22 million |
| Street Fighter | 19 million |
| Rocket League | 14 million |
| VALORANT | 14 million |
| Overwatch | 11 million |
Read Stream Hatchet’s Q1 2026 report. It also reports a 1.5 million peak for League’s LCK Cup and a 5.9 million peak for M7; those event peaks differ from Esports Charts’ figures. Provider, scope, and measurement differences mean the numbers should be attributed to their source rather than merged into one leaderboard.

Why “top esports game” depends on the metric
- Peak viewers: the largest concurrent audience observed at an event during a period. Useful for comparing event highs, but it does not show how consistently a game attracts viewers.
- Hours watched: total viewing accumulated over a defined period and dataset. It can reward a long schedule as well as large audiences.
- Tournament count: the number of events tracked, not the size of their audiences. In Esports Charts’ 2025 table, for example, it lists 549 Counter-Strike tournaments, 252 for VALORANT, 141 for League of Legends, and 120 for Dota 2.
- Prize pool: money awarded across competitions, not a direct measure of viewership or player interest.
Twitch’s 2026 State of Gaming report covers creator and category activity on Twitch, with global internal data generally spanning January 1 through September 1, 2026. That is broader than esports-event measurement, so its platform-wide activity should not be treated as another version of the tournament rankings above. Twitch also reports 1.6 billion hours watched on streams using its DropsEnabled tag during its report period; this is a platform-wide Drops statistic, not an esports-only total. A viewership chart can help identify prominent competitive scenes, but it cannot tell you which game you will enjoy. Compare the games by the kind of competition and viewing experience you want.

Choose by genre and format
- MOBAs: League of Legends, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Dota 2, and Honor of Kings center on team strategy and objective-based matches. Mobile Legends and Honor of Kings are mobile titles.
- Shooters: Counter-Strike and VALORANT offer tactical team competition; PUBG Mobile is a mobile battle royale. Match length, team structure, and pace vary.
- Fighting games: Street Fighter focuses on individual head-to-head play, offering a different format from team leagues.
- Sports and arcade-style competition: Rocket League uses vehicle-based soccer, with a distinct pace and presentation.
These examples appear in Stream Hatchet’s Q1 2026 hours-watched list; genre labels describe broad formats rather than a quality ranking.
Consider platform and competitive cadence
Decide whether you want a mobile-first game or a PC/console title, then look at how its events are scheduled. Esports Charts links Mobile Legends’ H1 high to M7 and strong regional MPL circuits, while Counter-Strike’s peak came around a major tournament. A game with recurring regional leagues may offer regular viewing; a scene whose audience peaks around championship events may be easier to follow through those tentpole tournaments.

Use regional signals carefully
Audience and creator activity can vary by region and platform. A regional league or a platform-specific creator example is not proof of a game’s global rank. For a decision about what to follow, check the event schedule and coverage where you watch rather than assuming a worldwide leaderboard reflects every local scene.
