He later said, “Yeah, I deserve that,” and added, “There’s so many reasons why I shouldn’t have played that character.” The report does not explain what those reasons were.
What Troy Baker said about Kai Leng
The exchange came in a Partychat video that showed Baker clips from roles across his career. When the Kai Leng clip appeared, Baker turned to laugh and said, “Don’t. Next clip. Nope, next clip.” GamesRadar+ reports that he later conceded, “Yeah, I deserve that,” before saying, “There’s so many reasons why I shouldn’t have played that character.” GamesRadar+ reported the remarks on October 5, 2026.

Why Baker says he should not have played the character
Baker’s quoted remark signals regret or self-criticism, but the report does not give his reasons. It would be speculation to claim he objected to the writing, performance, casting, or any particular aspect of Kai Leng.
GamesRadar+ characterizes Kai Leng as a much-disliked antagonist and criticizes the character’s presentation and design. That is the outlet’s commentary, not Baker’s stated explanation or a measured assessment of all players’ views. VGTimes also recounted the reaction and fan criticism, but neither report supplies a full transcript of Baker explaining his comment.
