Two OGC Nice supporters were acquitted on 2 October 2026 in a case arising from a confrontation with players after the team lost 3–1 away to Lorient. Le Parisien reported that police witnesses had not seen the defendants commit violence and considered their actions an attempt to calm the situation. The verdict concerns the two men on trial; it does not establish that no violence occurred in the crowd.
What happened after Nice lost to Lorient?
After Nice’s 3–1 defeat away to Lorient on 30 November 2025, more than 200 supporters gathered outside the club’s training centre and blocked the returning team bus, according to Le Parisien. The newspaper’s account says Anthony D., 32, and Mohamed C., 42, were allowed onto the bus. They told the players, in forceful and vulgar language, that supporters wanted only to talk.
Club officials then agreed that players could walk from the bus to the training-centre gates through the crowd. Some made it through without incident; others faced spitting, insults and a violent jostle. Jérémie Boga and Terem Moffi filed complaints the next day, Le Parisien reported.
Why were the two supporters acquitted?
The central dispute was over what the defendants did and whether their intervention brought players into danger. Prosecutor Damien Martinelli called the episode a “guet-apens” (“ambush”) and argued that the players would not have left the bus without the men’s intervention. The defense said they had tried to calm the situation and denied involvement in violence.

Le Parisien reported that police witnesses did not see Anthony D. or Mohamed C. commit violence and considered their actions an attempt to de-escalate the situation. The court acquitted both. The report does not provide the written judgment or its full legal reasoning, so the police testimony should not be treated as the complete explanation for the ruling. Le Parisien also reported that prosecutors had sought prison terms of one to two years.
What did earlier reports say?
A 31 May 2026 report by Nice Radio described the men as suspected of playing a role in the violence and said the case was headed to criminal court. It summarized allegations that included punches and kicks, and reported medical incapacity of five days for one player and none for the other. Those were pre-verdict allegations; they are not findings that the acquitted defendants committed violence.

L’Équipe’s search-result summary also reported the acquittal and said the prosecution relied in part on a police commander’s report. That offers corroboration, but the available summary is not a substitute for the judgment.
Which players complained, and what is known about the aftermath?
Boga and Moffi complained to police after the incident. Le Parisien reported that both were psychologically marked by what happened, did not play for Nice again, and left the club in 2026. Their later club status is not necessary to understand the verdict and may change over time.

Le Parisien identified the defendants only as Anthony D. and Mohamed C.; those initials are retained here. It reported that both had held responsibilities in the Populaire Sud supporters’ group and had earlier convictions for football-related violence. Those reported backgrounds do not establish what either man did in this incident.

The ruling acquitted these two defendants in this case. The available reporting does not establish that every person in the crowd was cleared, that no assault took place, or that the court adopted a general legal principle. It also does not confirm whether an appeal was filed. The written judgment or an official procedural update would be needed to settle those points.
