For Ubisoft Connect error Dolphin-028, start by checking Ubisoft service status and your internet connection, then restart Connect online with administrator rights. If that does not work, check for security-software blocks, update or reinstall the client, and try Ubisoft’s cache-and-IP refresh steps. Ubisoft has described Dolphin-028 as a known issue under active investigation, so none of these workarounds is guaranteed during an outage.
What Dolphin-028 means
Dolphin-028 appears during Ubisoft Connect PC login. The displayed message reads: “There was an error during your login to Ubisoft Connect. Please restart your client and try again. (Error dolphin-028).” In a Ubisoft developer support reply dated February 11, 2025, Ubi-Orion described it as a known issue under active investigation. That does not identify one cause for every affected account: login failures can also arise from service problems, connectivity, client settings, permissions, security software, or an outdated client. Try the low-risk checks first
1. Check service status and your connection
Check Ubisoft’s service notices for maintenance or degradation. Confirm the PC is online; if the connection is unstable, use Ubisoft’s connectivity troubleshooting guidance before changing account settings or reinstalling software. 2. Relaunch Connect online as administrator
- Close Ubisoft Connect.
- Make sure the client is not starting in offline mode.
- Relaunch Ubisoft Connect with administrator rights and attempt to log in again.

3. Check firewall and antivirus blocks
Check whether your firewall or antivirus product is blocking Ubisoft Connect. Add the client to an allow list only if you find a block; do not disable security protection wholesale. Ubisoft login troubleshooting
Update or reinstall Ubisoft Connect
An outdated client can cause login problems. Check for an update first. If restarting and updating do not help, Ubisoft recommends reinstalling Connect and trying to log in again. Clear the cache and refresh the IP lease
Ubisoft developer replies recommend clearing the Ubisoft Connect cache, then releasing and renewing the PC’s IP configuration. Follow Ubisoft’s cache-clearing instructions for the installed client; then run the network commands below in Command Prompt. - Clear the Ubisoft Connect cache using Ubisoft’s instructions.
- Open Command Prompt and run
ipconfig /release. - After it completes, run
ipconfig /renew. - Reopen Ubisoft Connect and test login.
Try Ubisoft’s game-executable workaround
If Dolphin-028 still appears, Ubisoft support has suggested launching an installed Ubisoft game directly after ending the Connect task. This is a workaround, not a guaranteed fix.

- Open Task Manager and end the Ubisoft Connect task.
- Open the installation folder for an installed Ubisoft game and launch its
.exefile. - Complete the login prompt if it appears, and allow Ubisoft Connect to close.
- Reopen Ubisoft Connect and check whether login now works.
Use the password workaround only once
A Ubisoft developer response suggests entering one deliberately incorrect password to prompt an explicit authentication error, then entering the correct password. Try this only once: the same response warns that repeated failed attempts can trigger an account lockout. If the single attempt does not help, stop rather than repeating it. Ubisoft developer support
