What is confirmed
- No official Uncharted 5 announcement. The most recent public update from Naughty Dog, published September 28, 2026, does not identify an Uncharted game. That covers what the studio has published as of this date. It cannot speak for internal plans that have not been made public.
- Two early The Last of Us projects. Naughty Dog has said it has projects in early stages connected to The Last of Us, not Uncharted.
- Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet gets a fuller reveal in 2027. This is a reveal expectation, not a release date.
- A related existing game for series catch-up. PlayStation lists UNCHARTED: Legacy of Thieves Collection for PS5. It is a current product, not a preview of a new one.
What Naughty Dog actually said
The studio’s update, “Neil Druckmann Closes The Last of Us Day”, was written by co-president Neil Druckmann on September 28, 2026. Two passages matter for Uncharted readers.
On the early projects, Druckmann wrote: “We have a couple of very exciting new projects in very early stages – so we can’t say much about them at this point. I will tell you that both projects will expand the canon of The Last of Us beyond Part I and Part II.” The subject is The Last of Us. The post does not mention Uncharted.
On Intergalactic, he wrote: “In 2027, that changes. We’ll fully reveal Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and give you a proper look at Jordan’s wild sci-fi adventure.” That sentence sets an expectation for a 2027 reveal. It does not give a release date for the game.

Where the rumors come from
Uncharted 5 coverage is built on three threads. None of them is an announcement.
A vague social post from Shaun Escayg
Naughty Dog creative director Shaun Escayg made a social post that some fans read as an Uncharted clue. GameSpot’s overview of the unconfirmed game notes that the post could have referred to something else, or to nothing at all. A hint that fans have interpreted is not a studio statement.

Old planning before the pandemic
GameSpot also cites past reports of “some planning” for Uncharted 5 before the COVID-19 pandemic. Planning that stopped years ago does not show that a game is in production today. Treat it as history, not a status update.
2026 reports about Nathan Drake
Reports circulating in 2026 say a new game may be in development at Naughty Dog and may involve Nathan Drake. These claims are unverified. The strongest current primary update, Naughty Dog’s September 2026 post, does not confirm an Uncharted game or a role for Drake.

Nolan North’s comments
Actor Nolan North has said he would like to return to the role of Nathan Drake. In a GamesRadar+ report from October 6, 2026, he said: “I always keep out hope. I haven’t heard anything, but, you know, it is a business, and my god, can you imagine if they did?”
