Naughty Dog and PlayStation support materials do not confirm a flickering bug specific to Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection or identify a game patch that fixes one. If the picture flickers on PS5, first compare the game’s display modes, then check the console’s HDMI, 120 Hz, and VRR settings. Naughty Dog’s guidance is aimed at VRR- or 120 Hz-related display trouble; it is not a guaranteed fix for every kind of flicker.
Is screen flickering a known issue with the Collection?
The official sources cited here do not establish a game-specific flickering defect. Naughty Dog’s general display troubleshooting covers PS5 problems involving VRR and 120 Hz output, but that guidance does not show that the game itself is responsible for a particular player’s flicker. The cause can’t be determined without knowing the display, cable and exact symptom.
Start by noting when the flicker happens: only during gameplay, only after changing display modes, or also in the PS5 interface. That distinction can help narrow down whether the symptom follows the game or the broader display signal.
Compare the game’s display modes
The Collection offers three modes with different resolution and frame-rate targets, according to Naughty Dog’s PS5 features overview:
#1 Best Overall
- Model Number CFI-2000
- Includes DualSense Wireless Controller, 1TB SSD, 2 Horizontal Stand Feet, HDMI Cable, AC power cord, USB cable, printed materials, ASTRO’s PLAYROOM (Pre-installed game)
- Vertical Stand sold seperately
| Mode | Target | Display requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Fidelity | 4K at 30 fps | Not stated by Naughty Dog |
| Performance | 60 fps | Not stated by Naughty Dog |
| Performance+ | 1080p at 120 fps | Compatible 120 Hz display required |
Try another mode and observe whether the flicker changes. Treat this as a comparison, not a promised cure: the official mode information does not say that switching modes resolves flickering.
Check HDMI, 4K transfer rate and VRR
For display trouble while VRR and/or 120 Hz output are enabled, Naughty Dog’s PS5 VRR troubleshooting guidance recommends checking the HDMI connection and adjusting video output settings in stages:

- CPU: x86-64-AMD Ryzen Zen 8 Cores / 16 Threads at 3.5GHz.GPU: AMD Radeon RDNA 2-based graphics engine.
- 16GB GDDR6/256-bit Memory; 825GB SSD Storage Capacity
- Ethernet (10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, 1000BASE-T), IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax, Bluetooth 5.1
- HDR technology, 8K output,4K TV gaming, Up to 120 fps with 120Hz output, Tempest 3D AudioTech
- What's Included: Sony PlayStation 5 Digital Edition; DualSense; USB cable, HDMI cable.
- Confirm that the PS5 is connected with an HDMI 2.1 cable. If the problem persists, try a different HDMI 2.1 cable. Test a known-good or supplied cable before buying one; the guidance does not say that a cable is always the cause.
- On PS5, open Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output > 4K Video Transfer Rate. Change the setting from Automatic to -1. If needed, try -2.
- Check whether the monitor has a firmware update and install it if appropriate for your model.
- If the flicker remains, turn VRR off at Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output > VRR > Off. Naughty Dog’s September 27, 2022 support article gives this final step: “Lastly if none of these changes have solved the problem, please disable VRR in your PlayStation 5 settings.”
- If the issue is still unresolved, contact Naughty Dog support through the help article.
Change one setting at a time and check whether the symptom changes. This makes it easier to identify which configuration matters on your setup; the steps do not establish a cause in advance.
