Lowering resolution, shadows, and anti-aliasing can reduce graphics load, but no official source promises a particular frame rate or provides a verified low-end preset. If your character repeatedly snaps backward, investigate connection issues rather than assuming the problem is low FPS.
Check whether your PC meets V Rising’s requirements

Compare your processor, graphics card and its VRAM, RAM, Windows version, and free storage with the minimum tier. A laptop’s model name alone may not tell you which GPU it has; check Windows’ Task Manager under Performance or the manufacturer’s specifications. If a component falls below minimum, settings changes may still be worth trying, but the listed requirements do not establish how well a specific below-minimum machine will run.
Try the developer’s graphics and system troubleshooting steps
Stunlock Studios recommends several troubleshooting measures for performance-related strain and frequent crashes. Treat them as experiments rather than guaranteed FPS fixes; change one item at a time so you can tell whether it helped. The developer’s recommendations are in its V Rising troubleshooting guide.

- Lower resolution. Reduce the game’s display resolution and check whether play feels smoother. This can reduce the work required to render each frame, but image sharpness will also decrease.
- Reduce shadow quality and anti-aliasing. Lower these graphics settings and assess the result in the same situation in which you noticed the slowdown.
- Update your graphics driver. Get the current driver through the GPU maker’s official update route for your specific graphics hardware.
- Verify the game files in Steam. In Steam, open your Library, right-click V Rising, choose Properties, open Installed Files, then select Verify integrity of game files. Let the check finish before launching the game again.
- Temporarily disable overlays. Test with overlays such as Discord, GeForce Experience, or Steam Overlay turned off; re-enable them afterward if they were not involved.
- Close unnecessary background apps and restart the PC. This is a basic troubleshooting step recommended by Stunlock, not a measured performance boost.
Keep a note of your original settings and change only one option at a time. That makes it easier to undo a change that worsens image quality without improving smoothness.
Use launch options cautiously
Stunlock’s Steam launch-options guide documents display choices such as windowed or fullscreen mode and setting screen width and height. It cautions: “Some options may have limited effect depending on your system and game version.” Use launch options only for a specific display or compatibility need, change them individually, and record the original values so you can restore them. The guide does not establish arbitrary launch commands as FPS boosts.

Tell low FPS apart from network rubberbanding
Low FPS makes the image or movement look choppy because the game is not displaying frames smoothly. Rubberbanding looks different: your character moves, then repeatedly appears to jump or lag backward. Stunlock treats that pattern as a connection problem, not simply a graphics-performance issue. Its connection and rubberbanding guidance recommends:
- Check the stability of your internet connection and use wired Ethernet if possible.
- Close applications that use a lot of bandwidth.
- Restart your router and PC.
- Verify the game files and keep V Rising, graphics drivers, and the operating system updated.
If you host a local world, check save-related lag separately
The following measures concern locally hosted worlds and save-related spikes; they are not general FPS tweaks and do not apply to a player on someone else’s online or dedicated server. Stunlock documents them in its connection and rubberbanding guidance.

ServerHostSettings.jsonas a way to speed save operations and reduce save-related lag spikes. The trade-off is larger save files.
Reset settings only if configuration may be the problem
If settings appear corrupted or incompatible, Stunlock’s general fixes guide says to reset client settings by deleting the specified settings folders under %appdata%..LocalLowStunlock StudiosVRisingSettings. Back up the folders first if you may want to restore your configuration: removing them resets custom settings. This is a reset option for configuration problems, not a routine FPS adjustment.
What to expect from optimization
The official requirements and troubleshooting guidance provide no tested low-end settings preset or measured FPS results. A sensible approach is to establish whether the machine meets minimum requirements, make a single supported change, and compare performance in a consistent gameplay situation. If the system is below the listed baseline or the issue persists after troubleshooting, the published specifications cannot tell you what frame rate your particular PC will achieve.
