Vacation Simulator is a playful, single-player VR game built around picking up objects, completing light puzzles, and trying vacation activities across several themed locations. Critics generally liked its tactile interactions and variety, but some questioned how long its minigames hold up. It is an easier recommendation for VR newcomers and fans of hands-on play than for players seeking a long or demanding game.
What is Vacation Simulator?
Made by Owlchemy Labs as a follow-up to Job Simulator, Vacation Simulator imagines robots learning what humans do when they are not working. You visit Vacation Island and interact with bots and objects through VR: activities include splashing at the beach, exploring a forest, hiking, making snow creations, knitting, and taking selfies. The game also lets you customize your avatar. Its focus is less on realistic simulation than on playful experimentation and completing small tasks by manipulating things around you. PlayStation classifies the game as casual, puzzle, and action, and lists it as single-player. That combination gives a useful sense of its scale: expect a light, interactive VR experience rather than a competitive or story-heavy adventure.
What do Vacation Simulator reviews say?
Metacritic currently displays a 77 Metascore from seven critic reviews, labeled “Generally Favorable,” and a 7.3 user score from 24 ratings, labeled “Mixed or Average.” Those figures were displayed on October 8, 2026; the critic and user samples are small and may change. The Meta Store separately displays a 4.5 rating from approximately 4.7K ratings as accessed on that date. What critics liked
Positive excerpts highlight the familiar, tactile interaction style, a range of activities, and an approachable entry point for people new to VR. Windows Central’s review excerpt, reproduced on Metacritic on April 11, 2019, calls it “Everything you remember and love about Job Simulator and Rick and Morty: Virtual Rickality with a massive host of new puzzles and experiences.” Game Informer’s excerpt, also reproduced there on April 9, 2019, says, “Walking around Vacation Simulator’s locations and carrying items between them to solve its various puzzles is where I had the most fun.”
What critics questioned
Some reviewers were less convinced by the amount of replay value. Their excerpts suggest experienced players may finish relatively quickly, and that minigames may not sustain repeat play for everyone. Game Informer also criticized the game’s reliance on object manipulation, saying it “relies too much on how much entertainment you can wring out of moving physics objects in a VR environment.” These are opinions about the experience, not measured playtime or a guarantee that every player will have the same response.

Is Vacation Simulator worth it?
It is most compelling if you enjoy tactile VR interaction: picking things up, carrying them between spaces, and seeing how objects respond. The variety of vacation-themed settings and tasks gives newcomers a welcoming way to explore that style of play. If you liked Job Simulator or prefer playful experimentation over demanding challenges, the critical reception points to a good fit.
Consider it more cautiously if you want a long campaign, deep systems, or strong reasons to replay the same activities. Reviews differ on how entertaining the minigames remain, and the game’s central appeal depends heavily on enjoying physics-based object play. The available review evidence does not establish a total completion time, so there is no reliable hours estimate to use when judging value.

Which VR headset and platform do you need?
Compatibility depends on the version and the storefront’s current regional listing. The Meta Store lists Meta Quest 2, Quest Pro, Quest 3, and Quest 3S as supported. Its page also mentions experimental hand tracking and a Quest 3 real-time-shadows update; those features should not be assumed to apply identically across every headset. The listing includes the Back to Job DLC. Check the live Meta Store page for current headset compatibility and content details.
PlayStation lists PS4 and PS5 versions. The PS5 version requires PlayStation VR2 and a roomscale play area of 2 m × 2 m. PlayStation says existing PS VR owners can access the PS VR2 digital version at no extra cost under specified ownership conditions; check the current PlayStation listing to confirm that the conditions apply to your account and region.

The available listings establish platform support, not a complete feature-by-feature comparison between versions. Before buying, check which headset you already own, whether you prefer a standalone Quest setup or a PlayStation VR2 setup, the space required for the PS5 version, and the live regional store page. Do not buy another headset solely on the assumption that the game’s features are identical across platforms.

PlayStation also warns that VR can cause motion sickness and says PS VR2 is not for children under 12. Comfort varies by player, so review the headset’s safety guidance and the game’s available visual comfort settings before playing.
