Valor Mortis, the first-person Soulslike from One More Level, is scheduled to launch on October 13, 2026. The game is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam, with day-one Xbox Game Pass availability announced by publisher Lyrical Games.
What is Valor Mortis?
Valor Mortis is a supernatural action game set in a reimagined 19th-century Europe during the Napoleonic Wars. One More Level, the studio behind the Ghostrunner series, casts players as William Dowsett, a resurrected soldier of Napoleon’s Grande Armée who wakes amid a spreading plague.

The official premise brings historical figures and fictional conflict together: Napoleon’s voice reaches William, while the Shrike, a rebel leader, fights the Empire in occupied Eastern Europe. The game’s setting pairs Napoleonic-era weapons with supernatural powers.
How does its first-person Soulslike combat work?
One More Level describes the combat as a first-person Soulslike system built around swords, firearms, magic, stamina, parries, and high-mobility fighting. The studio also highlights boss encounters and exploration through historically inspired environments. The developer says dynamic field-of-view scaling is intended to make large bosses easier to read during combat. That design goal may help communicate the scale of encounters, but it does not establish how the feature performs in the finished release.

One More Level has also said a physical-disc version is ready for printing. That confirms disc production, not a particular platform SKU, retailer listing, or current availability; check the relevant retailer for a specific physical edition.

One More Level announced these prices on September 30, 2026. They are the standard and Deluxe Edition amounts stated by the developer in US dollars, euros, and Polish złoty; prices on regional storefronts may differ.

The story DLC is a future plan announced by the developer, not released content. One More Level has also said multiple free updates are planned. Check the platform store before buying for the current regional price and edition contents.

One More Level cautions that the Steam demo is not representative of the polished full release. The studio says it used bespoke chapter versions and did not include all later optimization, balancing, and bug fixes.
The developer has also explained that General Lothaire appeared roughly 30 minutes into the demo, before players had much time to learn the combat. In the full game, the studio intends that boss to appear at the end of Chapter II, after players have had more time with the mechanics and character leveling. This is the developer’s account of the difference, rather than an independent assessment.
One More Level reported in August 2026 that “hundreds of thousands” of players had tried playtest and demo versions. That figure is the studio’s own report, not an independently audited player count. The developer characterized feedback as positive about first-person combat, parries, challenging bosses, and the Napoleonic setting; it did not establish that feedback as a representative poll.
