VALORANT is now available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and Riot describes the console version as free to play. The limited beta was a historical step in that launch—not a current sign-up opportunity. Riot’s official material confirms the beta took place, but the sources available here do not establish its exact first-play date or how players gained access, so neither should be guessed.
Is VALORANT available on PS5 and Xbox?
Yes. Riot’s current console page lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and says “PLAY FOR FREE NOW ON CONSOLE.” The supported Xbox models are Series X and Series S; the cited page does not list older Xbox One hardware.
Availability can depend on region. In an update published August 9, 2024, Riot said the initial console rollout would begin in the United States, Canada, Europe, Japan, and Brazil, while noting that its plans could change. Riot later announced that the game launched on console in Australia and New Zealand on September 23, 2026, in a post dated September 24, 2026. Those announcements document the rollout at those points in time; check Riot’s current console page for present regional availability.
What was the console beta date?
Riot confirmed a limited console beta, but the official pages cited here do not verify the exact date it first opened or explain its sign-up and access process. The headline’s promise of a specific beta release date therefore cannot be substantiated from those pages, and it would be misleading to supply a remembered date as fact.

Riot’s August 9, 2024 console availability update described the beta’s purpose: “As Riot’s first live service console game, the purpose of our limited beta was to understand how to best serve players on console and provide them with the same level of quality we deliver to our PC players.” Riot specifically pointed to learning about console players and maintaining healthy queues and matchmaking.
How do console and PC players play together?
PlayStation and Xbox console players can play together. Console players cannot join PC matches. Riot’s September 24, 2026 Australia and New Zealand announcement explains the separation as a competitive-integrity decision: “We believe strongly in competitive integrity, and this is the best way for us to keep the experience fair and consistent for players on both console and PC.”

What did the beta include?
Riot’s June 11, 2024 Patch Notes 8.11 provide a snapshot of the limited beta period, including console modes and maps and a console tutorial. Those details describe that beta-era build; they should not be read as a complete or current list of the modes and maps available now.

Riot describes VALORANT as free to play on console. Its September 2026 announcement says a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass subscription is not required to play. This covers access to the game itself; it does not establish that every optional in-game purchase is free.
