Vesper’s Host is a three-player Destiny 2 dungeon where communication matters more than a single “best” loadout. Confirm that every fireteam member owns the required Dungeon Key or qualifying Collection entitlement, then use this walkthrough to handle the Scanner, Operator, and Suppressor augments; restore Activation; defeat Raneiks Unified with nuclear cores; survive the Corrupted Puppeteer; and pursue the dungeon’s loot, secret chests, Rogue Network objectives, and Ice Breaker catalyst.
Before you launch
Vesper’s Host is a three-player Destiny 2 dungeon built around role-based augments, numbered panels, nuclear cores, short damage windows, and dangerous radiation mechanics. The safest clear is not a memorized damage build: it is a team that calls out numbers clearly, exchanges augments at white terminals, preserves its routes, and treats every transition as a survival check.
Access requirements
Vesper’s Host launched on October 11, 2024, during Episode: Revenant. At launch, every player needed The Final Shape Dungeon Key and the Rogue Network quest from Spider. That is not the only current access route. Bungie’s current add-on guidance lists Vesper’s Host with the Dungeon Key content, and Bungie’s June 2026 support update says Destiny 2: The Collection includes Dungeon Keys. Check the edition and platform listing before buying: older or platform-specific listings may not carry the same entitlement.
Every player should own the relevant entitlement on their own Bungie account. Bungie explicitly says Dungeon Keys cannot be game-shared, so a fireteam leader owning the key is not an officially supported substitute for the other two players. Vesper’s Host is an endgame activity for fireteams of up to three and offers dungeon-exclusive gear; Bungie’s current activity list includes it as an available dungeon.

- TRIFORCE TITANIUM 50 MM DRIVERS — Our cutting-edge proprietary design divides the driver into 3 parts for the individual tuning of highs, mids, and lows—producing brighter, clearer audio with richer highs and more powerful lows
- HYPERCLEAR CARDIOID MIC — An improved pickup pattern ensures more voice and less noise as it tapers off towards the mic’s back and sides, with the sweet spot easily placed at the mouth because of the mic’s bendable design
- ADVANCED PASSIVE NOISE CANCELLATION — Sturdy closed earcups fully cover the ears to prevent noise from leaking into the headset, with its cushions providing a closer seal for more sound isolation
- LIGHTWEIGHT DESIGN WITH MEMORY FOAM EAR CUSHIONS — At just 240 g, the headset features thicker headband padding and memory foam ear cushions with leatherette to keep gaming in peak form during grueling tournaments and training sessions
- WORKS WITH WINDOWS SONIC — Make the most of the headset’s powerful drivers by pairing it with lifelike surround sound that places audio with pinpoint accuracy, heightening in-game awareness and immersion
The Rogue Network quest is useful for the dungeon’s story messages, secret objectives, focusing system, and Ice Breaker catalyst progression, but it is not required to learn or complete the three core encounters. If you only want the clear, confirm the dungeon entitlement first. If you want the post-clear secrets or catalyst, pick up or verify the quest with Spider before starting.
Recommended preparation
- Bring three players if possible. The dungeon can be approached in other ways, but its augments and simultaneous tasks are much easier when each player can communicate and carry a role.
- Use a survivable loadout. Bring a dependable primary for add clear, a special weapon for majors and mechanics, and a burst-capable heavy weapon or Super for boss damage. Healing, damage resistance, and reliable emergency tools are more valuable than a theoretical maximum-damage setup when learning the encounters.
- Do not treat one subclass or weapon as mandatory. Artifact perks, subclass options, and the sandbox change over time. The recommendations here are role requirements, not a claim that one current loadout is universally best.
- Build for movement if jumping sections are a problem. Bungie specifically highlighted Lion Rampant as an optional Titan convenience for the dungeon’s jumping sections, but it is not required.
- Agree on callouts before entering. Use short phrases such as “Scanner sees three,” “Operator has three,” “core two,” “depositing,” and “Suppressor ready.” A gaming headset for Destiny 2 fireteams is optional, but clear voice communication is genuinely useful for these mechanics.
The three augments
Vesper’s Host repeatedly uses three Deep Stone Crypt-style augments. Each player can hold only one augment at a time. White terminals let you deposit an augment so another player can retrieve it.
| Augment | What it does | Team callout |
|---|---|---|
| Scanner | Identifies the correct target, panel, or interaction. | Call the number or target before anyone commits. |
| Operator | Shoots or activates numbered red panels. | Confirm the number and location, then fire only the required panels. |
| Suppressor | Uses a hologram interaction and grenade-like detonation to suppress or expose targets. | Call when the hologram is placed and when the suppression is active. |
The most common beginner mistake is treating an augment as personal equipment. It is a team resource. Deposit it when the next task requires another role, and do not carry the wrong augment into an unexplored section simply because no terminal is immediately visible.
Encounter 1: Activation
Activation is the opening systems-restoration section. You move through a maze-like area of Vesper Station while using Scanner and Operator to identify and interact with the correct numbered panels. The encounter teaches the dungeon’s basic rule: identify first, communicate the number, perform the interaction, and exchange the augment before the next job. The broad objective and panel flow are also documented in Shacknews’ Vesper’s Host guide.

- Clear the immediate enemies. Do not grab an augment and sprint into an unfamiliar branch while enemies can force a death or interrupt the carrier.
- Use the colored sections to orient yourselves. The blue- and orange-walled areas provide useful visual landmarks. Call the color and room direction when separating briefly.
- Have Scanner identify the required panel or target. Scanner should say the number aloud and, when useful, describe the room or route rather than only saying “it is over here.”
- Give Operator the correct number. Operator shoots or activates the matching numbered red panel. The carrier should repeat the number before interacting so an incorrect panel is less likely to waste the attempt.
- Deposit and exchange augments. Use the white terminals whenever the next part needs Scanner, Operator, or Suppressor. Do not leave a player stranded with a role the team cannot currently use.
- Manage doors and Power Reserves. Opening a door consumes Power Reserves, while closing one adds a reserve. Close doors behind the team where possible so later movement does not leave you without enough reserve for the route.
- Regroup after each activation. Before moving into the next branch, confirm who has each augment, which number is next, and where the team will retreat if enemies or a timer force a reset.
The encounter is less about finding a secret optimal route than about avoiding three preventable failures: losing your bearings, carrying the wrong role, and splitting without a recovery plan. If someone dies, stop and re-establish the augment assignments instead of having two players improvise separate panel routes.
Encounter 2: Raneiks Unified
Raneiks Unified is the first boss encounter, a Servitor fight centered on nuclear cores and numbered receptacles. The documented completion objective is to deposit five nuclear cores into five numbered boxes in the required sequence while surviving the boss and surrounding Fallen.
Core sequence and boss split
- Clear the arena first. Remove nearby enemies and locate the Fallen enemy that drops a nuclear core. Add control matters because the carrier cannot safely solve the route while being surrounded.
- Identify the next number. The team should announce the required receptacle before the runner picks up the core or begins moving. “Core two, box two” is better than a vague direction.
- Carry the core to the matching box. Deposit the five cores in the required order. Keep the route and retreat path in mind rather than taking the shortest path through active enemies.
- Drop the core if survival requires it. A threatened carrier can briefly drop the core, move behind cover, and pick it up again. The radiation effect associated with the core dissipates quickly enough for a controlled drop-and-recover strategy; dying while holding it is usually the worse outcome.
- Use Suppressor when the split interaction is available. The Suppressor carrier interacts with the hologram near Raneiks to force the Servitor boss to split.
- Damage the exposed Servitor units. Concentrate damage on the vulnerable units during the opening created by the split, then prepare to repeat the core sequence and split mechanic as required.
- Finish the individual units near defeat. When the boss is close to being cleared, do not assume the encounter is complete just because the main model is nearly gone. Keep communicating targets and complete the remaining exposed units.
For the core order, a designated runner reduces confusion, but the runner should never be the only person who knows the destination. The Scanner or another teammate should call the current number, the Operator or Suppressor should announce when a role is ready, and the third player should prioritize add clear, revives, and the next route.

Handling Integration
Raneiks can apply an Integration threat when it catches a player in its line of sight. Do not try to out-heal or brute-force the countdown. Break line of sight by moving behind a door, around cover, or into another safe part of the room. The practical rule is simple: if the boss has a clean view of you and Integration appears, stop dealing damage and get behind something.
Door management remains important here. Opening a door consumes a Power Reserve and closing one adds a reserve, so do not leave every route open without a reason. A door can be both a travel cost and your answer to Integration. Preserve enough reserve to create safe movement and cover during the next core run.
Traversal after Raneiks
After Raneiks, the fireteam crosses station debris and jumping sections before reaching the Corrupted Puppeteer arena. Treat this as part of the clear, not as a harmless hallway.
- Move together and call out the next platform before jumping.
- Do not rush a revive if the body is in a dangerous gap or under enemy fire.
- Allow the player with the weakest movement setup to lead the pace.
- Do not assume that a death is harmless because the next checkpoint or arena appears close.
Bungie has described solo flawless completion of Vesper’s Host as a significant challenge and has documented historical issues involving reward delivery and boss-start behavior. For a first clear, a cautious pace is more reliable than speed-running the debris route.
Encounter 3: Corrupted Puppeteer
Corrupted Puppeteer is the final encounter and combines nearly every system introduced earlier: Operator panels, Suppressor holograms, Scanner identification, nuclear cores, cloned puppets, and radiation management. The fight is easier when you treat it as a sequence of jobs rather than one long boss burn.
Shield phase
- Orient by the arena colors. The blue and orange sections help identify where you are. If the team separates, call the color and the route instead of relying on landmarks that may look identical during combat.
- Follow the flashing red indicators. These lead toward the pipes and the relevant central room for the next panel interaction.
- Send Operator to the panel room. The Operator carrier shoots the four red panels in the room, using the matching number indicated by the encounter. Confirm the number before the carrier fires.
- Collect the nuclear cores. Once the panel work opens the route, carry and deposit the required cores to bring down the Puppeteer’s shield. Assign one player to the core route, one to crowd control and revives, and one to manage or communicate the current augment when possible.
- Keep an escape route open. The core carrier must know both the destination and where to retreat after depositing. A successful dunk that leaves the runner trapped is not a safe success.
Assignments can change with class, build, or player experience. The non-negotiable part is that every carrier knows the destination and the team knows who is responsible for the next augment exchange.
Puppets, suppression, and radiation
The Puppeteer’s copies use close-range attacks and create radiation fields. Radiation stacks become lethal at 10, and a puppet is invulnerable while its radiation field is active. Do not chase a puppet into that field.

- Keep distance from active fields. Back away and call the puppet’s location rather than attempting a point-blank finish.
- Use Suppressor near the puppets. The Suppressor carrier creates the hologram and detonates it close enough to suppress the copies. Suppression removes their radiation protection and makes them vulnerable.
- Group targets only when it is safe. A well-placed hologram can expose several vulnerable copies, but placing it too far away can fail and leave the group waiting for the ability to return.
- Kill exposed puppets quickly. Once the radiation protection disappears, focus fire rather than spreading damage across multiple targets.
- Respect the stack count. If a player is approaching 10 radiation stacks, disengage immediately. A revive or a lost damage opportunity is preferable to a death that destabilizes the whole phase.
Call the Suppressor cooldown before committing to a puppet clear. If the hologram misses, do not keep standing in the radiation field hoping the next shot will work; create distance, stabilize the arena, and wait for the next suppression opportunity.
Damage phase
After the required panel and nuclear-core work, the team enters the damage sequence. Scanner identifies the correct Puppeteer target or clone, while the other two players clear the arena and prepare for the next transition. The Scanner call should happen before everyone spends their burst resources.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →This is not a stationary boss burn. The encounter deliberately synthesizes the earlier mechanics, so surviving the reset and repeating the sequence is often more important than forcing maximum damage in one window. A sensible loop is:
- Confirm the correct target with Scanner.
- Spend burst damage while maintaining awareness of puppets and radiation.
- Stop chasing damage when the arena becomes unsafe.
- Regroup, exchange augments, and prepare for the next panel or core sequence.
If the group wipes during a transition, identify which job failed: wrong panel, lost core, missed suppression, incorrect Scanner target, or unsafe retreat. Correcting that one callout is usually more useful than changing the entire loadout after every attempt.
Loot, secret chests, and farming
Vesper’s Host has one Exotic weapon, four documented legendary weapons, and a Spacewalk armor set for each class. The named weapons are:
| Type | Item |
|---|---|
| Exotic | Ice Breaker |
| Legendary | VS Chill Inhibitor |
| Legendary | VS Gravitic Arrest |
| Legendary | VS Velocity Baton |
| Legendary | VS Pyroelectric Propellant |
| Armor | Spacewalk armor set for each class |
Loot is distributed among Activation, Raneiks Unified, and Corrupted Puppeteer rather than every item dropping from every encounter. The published Vesper’s Host loot table is useful when choosing a farm, and the Ice Breaker source and weapon-pool documentation identifies the Exotic as a Vesper’s Host reward. Current tables should still be checked before a focused farming session because Bungie can change reward rules.

Best way to farm a specific item
- Find the encounter that lists the weapon or armor slot you want.
- Use the character that needs the drop if you are collecting class armor.
- Run secret chests after you have acquired the relevant gear, since secret chests provide random rolls of gear you have previously obtained.
- Use Master difficulty when you specifically want the rewards currently associated with it. Current community database documentation associates Master Vesper’s Host with Artifice Armor, but treat that as a current database-supported rule, not a permanent guarantee.
- For Ice Breaker, prioritize the final encounter. The current Stationmaster Triumph entry says that completing Vesper’s Host on Master increases the initial Ice Breaker drop rate. That entry was modified June 8, 2026, so verify the live Triumph text before treating the bonus as current.
There is no need to run the entire dungeon repeatedly if your target is tied to one encounter and you have access to that checkpoint. If an item is missing from a community table, confirm the current source and date rather than assuming it was removed or added based on an older guide.

Rogue Network, secrets, and the Ice Breaker catalyst
Rogue Network is the dungeon’s optional progression layer. It connects Spider’s quest to post-clear messages, numbered-panel puzzles, secret chests, focusing codes, and the Ice Breaker catalyst. The broad progression described by community documentation is:
- Acquire and advance the Rogue Network quest from Spider.
- Find the dungeon’s messages and numbered-panel interactions.
- Complete the relevant objectives and Triumph requirements.
- Use Access Override and then Director Access progression to unlock additional armor and weapon focusing codes.
- Continue the puzzle and quest chain for the Ice Breaker catalyst steps.
Access Override and Director Access are not just flavor achievements: community documentation describes them as prerequisites for progressively enabling the focusing system. If you are pursuing secrets, track which messages, panels, Triumphs, and chest interactions you have completed rather than repeating random rooms.
This guide intentionally does not print a supposedly complete panel-code route. The available documentation supports the progression above, but exact puzzle paths are easiest to follow with verified screenshots or diagrams, and player reports have described panels, Triumphs, or quest steps failing to appear. Do not assume that every player will see every prompt in the same order or that the quest is always safe to abandon and reacquire.

Troubleshooting checklist
The activity will not launch
Check the entitlement on every account, not only the leader’s account. Confirm that the relevant Dungeon Key or qualifying Collection entitlement is present on the correct platform account. Game sharing is not an officially supported way to distribute Dungeon Key access.
The Rogue Network step, panel, or Triumph is missing
Confirm that the quest is actually in the character’s inventory or quest log and that the required earlier step is complete. Restarting the activity can help refresh an encounter state, but do not assume abandoning and reacquiring Rogue Network is always safe; player reports have documented cases where reacquisition was difficult or the progression remained blocked.
The boss does not spawn
A wipe and full activity restart may be required if the encounter state fails. Bungie documented boss-start problems during the dungeon’s early life, so record the exact step that failed and check Bungie’s current patch notes and Known Issues information before repeatedly rebuilding the fireteam.
Only one player gets a secret-chest reward
Check the current patch information before opening the chest again. Bungie documented and later addressed an early first-secret-chest reward problem. If the chest state appears abnormal, a controlled wipe before reopening it is a reasonable recovery attempt, but it is not a guarantee.

The Ice Breaker catalyst or reward does not appear
Verify the relevant Rogue Network step, restart the activity, and check the current Known Issues list. Bungie has previously fixed an Ice Breaker Catalyst award issue affecting players who died during a run, as well as crashes during boss death and a Raneiks post-DPS reform problem. Those fixes do not prove that every future reward or quest bug is resolved.
Quick role plan for a first clear
| Job | Primary responsibility | When to speak |
|---|---|---|
| Scanner | Identify the correct panel, target, or clone. | Before Operator fires, a runner moves, or the team spends damage resources. |
| Operator | Shoot the required numbered red panels. | Repeat the number before firing and confirm completion afterward. |
| Suppressor | Split Raneiks or suppress Corrupted Puppeteer’s puppets. | Announce hologram placement, suppression success, and cooldown. |
| Core runner | Carry nuclear cores to the called numbered receptacle. | Repeat the core number, destination, and safe route. |
| Support/add clear | Keep enemies under control, protect the runner, and manage revives. | Call threats, closed routes, and safe revive opportunities. |
These jobs do not have to stay on the same player for the whole dungeon. What matters is that the team knows who owns each task at the moment it starts. If a player is carrying the wrong augment, deposit it and reset the assignment instead of forcing an improvised interaction.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do I need to access Vesper’s Host?
Every player needs the relevant Dungeon Key entitlement or a qualifying Destiny 2: The Collection entitlement on their own account. Dungeon Keys cannot be game-shared. Rogue Network is useful for the story, secrets, focusing codes, and Ice Breaker catalyst, but it is not required for the core dungeon encounters.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWhat do Scanner, Operator, and Suppressor do?
Scanner identifies the correct target or panel, Operator shoots or activates numbered red panels, and Suppressor uses the hologram interaction to split Raneiks or suppress the Corrupted Puppeteer’s puppets. Each player can hold only one augment, and white terminals allow the team to exchange them.
How do you beat Raneiks Unified?
Raneiks requires five nuclear cores to be deposited into five numbered boxes in the required order. Call the number before the runner moves, use cover against Integration, and use Suppressor’s hologram interaction to split the Servitor boss before damaging the exposed units.
How do you beat Corrupted Puppeteer?
Use Operator to complete the required numbered panel sequence, deposit the nuclear cores to lower the shield, suppress the puppets with the Suppressor hologram, and avoid their radiation fields. Radiation reaches a lethal threshold at 10 stacks. Scanner identifies the correct Puppeteer target or clone during damage.
What loot drops from Vesper’s Host?
The documented rewards include Ice Breaker, VS Chill Inhibitor, VS Gravitic Arrest, VS Velocity Baton, and VS Pyroelectric Propellant, plus the Spacewalk armor set for each class. Rewards are distributed across encounters, so use a current loot table to choose the correct farm. Secret chests provide random rolls of gear you have already acquired.

The Bottom Line
Vesper’s Host becomes manageable when the fireteam treats it as a communication dungeon: Scanner calls the answer, Operator handles numbered panels, Suppressor controls boss states and puppets, and the core runner announces every destination. Confirm each player’s entitlement, preserve doors and escape routes, and prioritize safe repeats over one risky damage phase.
