The first hands-on video, published on June 18, 2025, showed eye-and-trigger selection, thumbstick navigation, controller tracking in immersive content, and more precise drawing in Freeform. It did not show PS5 VR games running natively on Vision Pro.
That distinction remains the key to understanding the feature: PSVR2 Sense controllers add physical, tracked input to compatible visionOS apps; they do not turn Vision Pro into a PSVR2 headset.
What the original video demonstrated
The original June 18, 2025 hands-on video showed Sony’s PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers being used with Apple Vision Pro.
Eye tracking remained part of the interface. The user could look at an app or interface element and press a physical trigger to select it. The thumbstick could scroll through pages and move through interface elements, giving Vision Pro a more deliberate button-based alternative to hand tracking.

- [Comfortable foam pads] Crafted from memory foam and soft PU, it provides a softer, more comfortable feel.
- [Flexible Installation Options] There are two installation methods: use the included Globular Cluster strap for a secure fit or the stock wrist strap for familiarity. Try both and choose your preferred style for comfort.
- [Two Included Thicknesses] This mod comes with two foam pads of different thickness. You can choose the one that best matches your hand size and preferred fit for ideal comfort and support.
- [Full Charging Dock Compatibility] Seamlessly charge your controller on the dock without removing the mod. Ensure the foam pad is aligned flush with the controller’s edge to maintain proper charging functionality.
- [Easy to Install ] For best results, apply as many dots as possible as shown in the product image, wait 2 hours after application to allow the adhesive dot to set, then attach the foam pad.
The controllers were also visible while using immersive environments. That matters because the accessory is not merely acting as a conventional Bluetooth gamepad: Vision Pro can combine its cameras with the controllers’ sensors to track their position and rotation in space.
Freeform provided another useful demonstration. A tracked physical controller can feel steadier and more precise than making gestures in midair, particularly for drawing or other interactions that benefit from a defined tool.
However, the video was not a demonstration of a PlayStation 5 game running inside Vision Pro. It showed visionOS navigation and spatial interaction. Pairing the controllers does not provide the PSVR2 headset, PlayStation operating system, or direct access to PS5 VR games.
The preview became an official visionOS feature
At the time of the video, Apple was previewing support. Apple’s current documentation now lists the PSVR2 Sense controller as a supported spatial accessory on visionOS 26 or later.
Recommended Free Tools
Apple says the controllers can be used with compatible Vision Pro apps and experiences, while also warning that not every app supports spatial accessories. In practical terms, pairing is only the first step. An app may accept ordinary controller buttons without using tracked position, haptics, finger-touch sensing, or controller-specific spatial anchors.
Apple’s developer explanation describes support through the GameController framework, RealityKit, and ARKit. The controller provides inputs including buttons, a joystick, triggers, inertial data, haptics, and finger-touch sensing. Vision Pro’s cameras and the accessory’s sensors work together to estimate the controller’s position and rotation.
That is broadly what “six degrees of freedom” means here: software can respond to movement along three spatial axes and rotation around those axes, rather than receiving only button presses. The app still has to be designed to use that information.

Which PlayStation controllers are supported?
The relevant accessory is the PSVR2 Sense controller. It should not be confused with the original PlayStation Move controllers, the PlayStation VR Aim controller, or a DualSense wireless controller.

Sony’s compatibility documentation treats the PSVR2 Sense controllers as part of the PS5 and PSVR2 ecosystem. Support for the Sense controllers on Vision Pro is a separate visionOS feature and does not change Sony’s PlayStation compatibility rules.
How to pair PSVR2 Sense controllers with Vision Pro
Apple requires the left and right controllers to be paired individually:
- Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on Vision Pro and charge both controllers.
- On the left controller, press and hold the PlayStation button and Create button at the same time.
- Keep holding until the controller’s pairing indicator begins blinking.
- On the right controller, press and hold the PlayStation button and Options button together.
- Wait for its pairing indicator to blink.
- On Vision Pro, open Settings > Bluetooth.
- Tap each controller separately when it appears.
A controller can be paired only while its indicator is blinking. If the light stops before Vision Pro detects it, repeat the button combination for that controller.
After pairing, Apple provides controller information and customization under Settings > General > Gaming Controller.

| Use | What to expect |
|---|---|
| VisionOS navigation | Physical buttons and triggers can supplement eye tracking in compatible interfaces. |
| Scrolling and analog input | The thumbstick can scroll or move through content where the interface or app accepts it. |
| Spatial tracking | Available in apps that implement spatial-accessory support. |
| Haptics | Available when both the hardware and the app support the feature. |
| Freeform and creative tools | Useful for more deliberate, tracked input, but support remains app-dependent. |
| VisionOS gaming | Compatible games can use buttons, sticks, triggers, tracked movement, and other supported inputs. |
| Every Vision Pro game | No. App developers must implement the relevant controller features. |
| PS5 VR games inside Vision Pro | No. The controllers do not turn Vision Pro into a PSVR2 headset. |
| Original PS Move controllers | Not the accessory Apple documents for this feature. |
Apple highlighted spatial tracking in a sports example involving Pickle Pro. The broader opportunity is for developers to build experiences around tracked controller locations such as the aim point, grip, and grip surface—not simply map a few buttons to existing gamepad actions.
Is the controller set worth buying?
Apple’s U.S. store listed a PSVR2 Sense Controller and Charging Station package at $249.95 as observed on August 18, 2026. The package includes the left and right controllers, a charging station, AC adapter, power cord, and two USB adapters. Prices, taxes, stock, and regional availability can change.

The standalone set makes the most sense if you already own Vision Pro and specifically want:
- tracked two-handed spatial input;
- physical triggers, buttons, and analog sticks;
- haptic feedback where supported;
- finger-touch sensing and controller-aware apps;
- controllers that may also be useful with PS5/PSVR2 or compatible PC setups, subject to Sony’s platform requirements.
It is a poor purchase if your main expectation is to play PS5 VR games inside Vision Pro, or if you mostly use conventional gamepad titles. In those cases, the accessory does not deliver what you are looking for.
When the full PSVR2 package makes more sense
If you also want Sony’s dedicated VR platform, compare the controller-only package with a full PSVR2 bundle. Sony announced a U.S. recommended retail price of $399.99 in February 2025 for a package including the PSVR2 headset, Sense controllers, and stereo headphones; actual retailer pricing and availability may differ.
For someone who wants both a Vision Pro accessory and a conventional PSVR2 system, paying roughly $150 more than the cited Apple price could be more useful than buying the controllers alone. For someone who has no interest in PS5 gaming, the extra headset provides little value.
Alternatives
Apple’s eye and hand tracking: Best for ordinary Vision Pro navigation and costs nothing extra. It remains the default interaction model.
DualSense: Better for conventional gamepad-style games. Apple lists DualSense among the PlayStation controllers compatible with Vision Pro, but it does not provide the same tracked two-handed spatial input as the PSVR2 Sense controllers.
Logitech Muse: Apple’s Vision Pro accessories catalog listed the spatial stylus at $129.95. It is a better fit for drawing, sculpting, and creative work, but it lacks the twin-stick, trigger-based layout intended for gaming.

Troubleshooting pairing and tracking
A controller does not appear
- Confirm that the controller is charged.
- Use the correct combination for the left or right controller.
- Check that the pairing indicator is actively blinking.
- Disconnect it from another host if it is still connected elsewhere.
- Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on Vision Pro.
- Pair the two controllers one at a time.
If several Bluetooth accessories are active, Apple warns that wireless performance problems become more likely. Disconnect accessories you are not using and try again.
Only one controller appears
Vision Pro pairs the controllers individually. Repeat the discovery process for the missing controller rather than treating the first successful connection as a complete setup.
The controller pairs but does little in an app
This may be an app limitation rather than a hardware fault. A title might recognize ordinary buttons while lacking support for spatial tracking, haptics, finger-touch detection, or controller anchoring. Apple’s documentation does not promise universal app compatibility.
Tracking is inconsistent
Tracking depends on Vision Pro’s cameras, the controller sensors, lighting, occlusion, controller orientation, the available play area, and the app’s implementation. Apple describes the tracking architecture but does not promise identical performance in every environment or application.
Returning to a PS5
Pairing the controllers with Vision Pro may mean pairing them back to the PS5 later. Sony’s PSVR2 support documentation says each Sense controller can pair with only one PS5 console at a time and describes initial PS5 pairing through USB.
The practical verdict
The first video got the core idea right: PSVR2 Sense controllers give Vision Pro a more physical and precise way to interact with spatial software. Eye tracking can handle targeting, while triggers, sticks, tracked movement, and haptics add control that hand gestures cannot always provide.
The current feature is more than a preview, but it is still not a bridge between Vision Pro and the PlayStation VR2 software library. Buy the controller set if you already own Vision Pro and have compatible games or creative apps in mind. Choose the full PSVR2 package if you also want Sony’s VR ecosystem. Choose a conventional gamepad or no additional hardware if you do not need tracked spatial input.
