Vile Lictor is a boss in Borderlands 4, fought in Umbral Foundry in Windspear, Terminus Range, during the main mission His Vile Sanctum. Target his hands to expose a chest weak point, grapple to floating rock platforms to escape his phase-two arena blast, and return after the mission to use Moxxi’s Big Encore Machine for another fight. Guides report several Legendary and class-mod drops, but do not provide drop rates.

How to beat Vile Lictor
Phase one: expose the chest weak point
Game8 recommends attacking Vile Lictor’s hands. Doing so reveals a glowing weak point on his chest, which the guide says takes significantly increased damage. A newer Vault.gg guide, dated September 25, 2026, also describes a two-phase fight and recommends Shock damage against his shielded arms. Treat that elemental recommendation as guide-specific advice, not a guaranteed requirement; encounter behavior and tactics may change with patches.
Phase two: avoid the arena-center explosion
When Vile Lictor triggers a large explosion at the center of the arena, Game8 recommends grappling to the floating rock platforms to get clear of the blast. Watch for the attack and use the grapple to reach a platform before the explosion hits.

How to farm Vile Lictor
- Complete the main mission His Vile Sanctum.
- Return to Vile Lictor’s arena in Umbral Foundry.
- Use Moxxi’s Big Encore Machine near the arena entrance to respawn the boss.
- Fight him again and check the drops; the available guide does not state item-specific odds.
These repeat-fight directions are reported by Game8. The machine requires payment, but the retrieved guide does not specify the cost.

The community-maintained Borderlands Wiki character page identifies him as formerly associated with the Augers and affiliated with the Order, and names Aaron LaPlante as his voice actor.
