When does the Village in the Shade DLC come out?
The publisher’s official Steam announcement gives the release window as Spring 2027. That is a seasonal window, not a specific launch date; the announcement does not say which day it will arrive.
What does the paid DLC add?
The announcement describes “new mechanics, scenarios, maps, and other unique events of all kinds.” These are broad categories, not an itemized feature list, so there is not enough detail yet to judge the expansion’s scope or value.
Which updates are free, and which content is paid?
The publisher distinguishes the paid DLC from free game updates. The announcement scheduled Patch 1 for September 29, 2026, and Patch 2 for October 27, 2026, with a protagonist birthday event and other features. Those patches should not be treated as DLC content or as proof that a particular feature is included in the paid expansion.

What to verify when the product page appears
- Platform and base-game compatibility: Make sure the DLC is listed for the same platform and storefront account as your copy of the base game. The announcement reviewed does not provide a confirmed platform list or say whether a base game is required on each platform.
- Price and specific contents: Compare the listed price with the final feature list. The announcement does not give a price or break down the promised mechanics, scenarios, maps, and events.
- Language and region: Check the exact storefront where you plan to buy. The Steam base-game listing currently marks English as unsupported and lists Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. Language availability can differ by platform or region, so confirm it on your own regional listing.
- Content disclosures: The base game is described as a farming simulation with horror elements. Steam’s mature-content notes include cartoon blood and violence, horror themes, and themes of suicide. If these subjects matter to you, read the current disclosures on the platform where you intend to play.
- Storage: Wait for the DLC listing to state its own storage requirement. Existing figures on Nintendo’s US pages refer to the base game, not the expansion: the Switch page estimates 3.3 GB for Switch and 3.1 GB for Switch 2, while the Switch 2 page estimates 5.6 GB.
What existing editions and listings do—and do not—tell you
Steam currently lists the base game, a Deluxe Edition bundle, and separate digital add-ons for the Original Soundtrack and Touring Kagatsu Artbook. Those products do not establish the future DLC’s contents, price, or editions.
Nintendo’s US listings describe the Switch and Switch 2 base-game editions as digital, single-player releases due October 27, 2026. The Switch page says Switch 2 compatibility is supported. These base-game pages do not confirm that the Spring 2027 DLC will be available on either console.

What is still unknown
The official DLC announcement reviewed does not establish the final DLC title, exact release date, price, platforms, platform-specific base-game requirement, itemized content, or expansion size. Until an official product page fills in those details, there is no reliable basis for a price-to-content comparison or for assuming that an existing game edition includes the expansion.
