Virtually Human Studio announced the ZED Champions beta in early March 2025, presenting it as a new competitive horse-racing game and successor to ZED RUN. The studio later announced a public launch for April 28, 2025, and its current returning-player page links to “Play now.” The beta is therefore a past launch milestone, not the game’s current status.
What is ZED Champions?
ZED Champions is a distinct game from the studio behind ZED RUN, built around automated horse races, matchmaking, breeding and progression. Its official overview says the game uses an exclusive pool of 4,320 horses. Horses are automatically entered based on leaderboard standing, and each race matches eight horses using Matchmaking points. The overview’s guiding message is: “In ZED Champions, knowledge is your most valuable resource.” Read the official Game Overview.
The studio’s launch announcement also described two races per day for each horse, alongside breeding auctions and augments that enhance attributes such as speed or endurance. Those details describe the launch announcement; the current overview and homepage emphasize the ongoing pool and automatic entry, and game operations may change. See the launch announcement.
How does the racing and reward system work?
According to the official overview, horses stake up to 10% of their internal $ZED balance in races. Race results affect Matchmaking points and token earnings. The internal balance changes with breeding price and performance; a low balance can result in forced retirement. Owners may also retire a horse after a race and receive its remaining in-game $ZED balance.

These are descriptions of game mechanics, not evidence of guaranteed cash returns. The studio has marketed real-money rewards, but the materials reviewed do not establish current payout mechanics, location-based eligibility, or tax treatment. Do not treat token balances or NFTs as investments or assume a race will produce profit.
What happens to ZED RUN horses and other assets?
ZED RUN horse NFTs remain in their owners’ wallets, but they do not transfer into ZED Champions as playable horses. The new game has different mechanics and digital horses. The studio’s returning-player guide says legacy leaderboard rewards included badges whose contents varied by rank; it describes horses and roughly half of the reZED allocated to badges as distributed at Season 0 launch on April 28, 2025, with remaining allocations planned across Seasons 1–5. Those are historical guide details, so check the current account information before relying on them for an individual claim. Read the returning-player guide.

What should players know about blockchain and wallets?

They warn against transferring unsupported NFTs or cryptocurrency to game wallets: an unsupported deposit may be rejected or permanently lost. Use the current official instructions for wallet setup and supported assets rather than relying on an older funding guide. Review the terms.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why did the studio make a new game?
ZED Champions changes the playable horses and the competitive structure rather than carrying ZED RUN horses directly into a new racing season. GamesBeat reported in 2025 that ZED RUN had bred 420,000 horses and recorded more than $400 million in transactions. Those are historical figures reported by GamesBeat, not independently verified company totals. Read GamesBeat’s launch coverage.
