Visions of Mana is a single-player action RPG about Val, a newly appointed soul guard who accompanies his childhood friend Hinna, the Alm of Fire, on a pilgrimage to the Tree of Mana to rejuvenate the flow of mana. It launched in 2024 for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Its central progression loop connects Elemental Vessels to character classes and Elemental Plots, while the ring menu lets players select assigned moves during combat.
What is Visions of Mana about?
Square Enix describes Visions of Mana as an action RPG with a semi-open world and three-dimensional battles that use elemental powers. Val is a newly appointed soul guard; Hinna, his childhood friend, has been chosen as the Alm of Fire. He travels with her toward the Tree of Mana on a pilgrimage intended to rejuvenate mana. This is the publisher’s premise, without further plot details or spoilers. Square Enix presented the game as a new mainline Mana entry after a gap of more than 15 years in its August 29, 2024 launch announcement.
What platforms is Visions of Mana on?
Square Enix lists PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Steam. Its system introduction lists August 29, 2024 as the release date and notes that the Steam release was August 30. The Steam store listing independently gives August 29, so the publisher’s platform-specific date note is worth keeping in mind when checking launch records. Choose based on the hardware you already own, which platforms are available in your region, and whether you want a physical copy. Edition and regional availability can differ; a platform’s presence on the publisher’s list does not guarantee that every physical edition is sold everywhere.

Steam lists the following as minimum requirements for Windows. The store associates this profile with 1920×1080 resolution, Low preset, and 30 FPS; these are minimum-profile details, not a performance comparison across computers. Check the live Steam listing for any updated requirements before installing.

How do Elemental Vessels, classes, and Elemental Plots work?
These systems connect elemental equipment, character progression, and combat options. Square Enix’s systems introduction describes an Elemental Plot as a character’s attunement to each Elemental Vessel. Acquiring a new vessel unlocks a corresponding branch in the plot; progressing along it uses elemental points and grants moves and abilities.

Advance a plot with elemental points
Elementite crystals found around the world provide elemental points. Gold Clovers can be exchanged one-for-one for a point, and special items allow plots to expand further. Maxing a plot for an element grants that element’s blessings to the character’s starter class. The official overview does not establish a complete unlock order or route, so treat the plot as a flexible progression system rather than a fixed sequence of steps.
Choose a class and weapons to suit your style
Characters can change classes, and weapon access and abilities affect the available strikes and moves. Square Enix gives Val as an example: his default weapon is a small sword, while his starter class can learn to equip great swords and lances. Abilities that begin as class-specific can be assigned to the starter class, and further weapon options broaden the class strikes available. There is no universally correct setup established by these descriptions. Compare the weapons you can use, the abilities you want to equip, and the combat style you prefer rather than assuming one build is best.

How does the ring menu affect combat?
Moves assigned to the ring menu can be selected from it and cost MP. Only moves placed on the menu are available there. Square Enix says combat pauses while the ring menu is open, giving you time to choose an action instead of making that selection under real-time pressure. Shortcuts are separate and provide instant access to selected moves or items. Assign frequently used options to shortcuts if you want fewer menu steps, and keep the ring menu for moves you want to choose deliberately.
What can you explore?
The publisher describes the environments as vast and semi-open, and identifies Pikuls as companions that help players travel quickly and safely. Its store overview also describes three-dimensional battles using elemental powers. These descriptions explain the broad exploration setup; they do not provide a complete map, traversal-unlock sequence, or collectible-by-collectible route. Yes. The official demo includes a portion of the story, battles, and exploration. It lets players visit Rime Falls, meet Pikuls in Fallow Steppe, try two Elemental Vessels, and encounter field monsters. The demo content is shortened, and progress does not carry over to the full game. Square Enix stated this explicitly in its July 31, 2024 demo announcement.
Demo weapons and save data
The demo’s listed bonus weapons are Gladius (small sword), Falx (great sword), and Horn Lance (lance). Demo save data must be present on the system to claim them. Steam adds that these weapons can also be obtained by progressing normally in the full game, so the demo is not the only route to those items. Check the Steam listing or Square Enix’s demo page for platform-specific details.
What physical editions and collector products are documented?
Square Enix’s North American store documents a physical standard game edition and a collector’s-edition goods box. The collector products listed include an ART of MANA SPECIAL ISSUE hardcover art book, a Ramcoh plush, and a soundtrack collector’s box. The art book is described as A4, hardcover, and 80 pages, with storyboards in Japanese. The soundtrack box is described as five CDs of original music plus a bonus CD of arranged tracks. Square Enix describes the soundtrack as containing 100 background music tracks; that figure is the publisher’s product description, not an independent track count. The store says the PS4 physical standard and collector’s editions are unavailable in North America. Editions in other regions may differ.
