What the official Steam pages support is a sequence: check your system against the published requirements, verify the game files through Steam, update Windows and your drivers, close non-essential software, and then contact the developer with specific details. Work through the steps in that order and note what changes after each one, because the evidence you collect is what narrows the cause.
Before you start: write down what the crash looks like
Support teams and Steam’s own guidance both depend on specifics. Before changing anything, record the following:
- The exact error text or message box, copied word for word, or a screenshot of it.
- When the crash happens: before the main menu, while loading a save, or during play.
- Whether it started after a Voidtrain update, a graphics driver or Windows update, or a reinstall.
- Where you bought the game. This guide assumes a Steam installation.
Step 1: Check your PC against the listed requirements
Voidtrain’s Steam store listing publishes minimum and recommended PC specifications. Compare your hardware with both columns below. Meeting the minimum means the game can start on paper; it does not guarantee stable play, and falling short of the minimum is a likely cause of crashes that you can confirm without any guesswork.

The operating system row needs one qualification. The listing’s OS field reads Windows 7/8/10, but Steam’s client has supported only Windows 10 and later since January 1, 2024. If you are on Windows 7 or 8, the Steam client itself is the first thing to address, and Windows 10 or 11 is the setup this guide assumes.

Step 2: Verify the game files through Steam
Steam can check the installed copy of Voidtrain against its server version and replace damaged files. Steam’s support article on verifying game file integrity describes the process, and its guidance applies to crashes as well as missing content. As the article puts it: “If you are missing textures or other content in game or experiencing crashing while playing a game, you can have Steam verify that the game’s files are installed correctly on the computer.”
- Restart your computer, then open Steam.
- In the Library, right-click Voidtrain and choose Properties. You can also open the game’s Library page and use the gear icon.
- Select Installed Files.
- Click Verify integrity of game files.
- Wait for the check to finish. Steam says it may take several minutes, so avoid running other system-intensive programs during it.
A verification message reporting one or more failed files is not automatically a fault. Steam notes that some files can fail verification normally when they are local configuration files that should not be replaced. Note the file names if they are listed, since they help support staff interpret the result.

Step 3: Update Windows and drivers, and close non-essential software
Steam’s general guidance for games that crash immediately after launch lists these checks, in this order: update Windows, update computer drivers, verify game files, disable non-essential software that can interfere with Steam, and compare the computer with the game’s requirements. Steam’s article on games that do not run after “Preparing to Launch” sets out this checklist. It is general advice, not a diagnosis of Voidtrain, so treat each item as a test rather than a confirmed fix.
- Windows: Open Settings, go to Windows Update, and install pending updates. Restart when prompted.
- Graphics driver: Install the latest driver from your GPU maker’s website (NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel). Restart afterward.
- Other drivers: Check for chipset or audio driver updates from your motherboard or laptop manufacturer if the crash continues.
- Background software: Close or temporarily disable non-essential programs, such as recording, tuning, or overlay utilities, then relaunch Voidtrain.
Change one thing at a time and restart between changes. If the crash stops after one change, you have a useful clue to include in a support report. If nothing changes, move on rather than stacking more changes.

Match the crash pattern to where to look
The pattern of the crash points to which checks deserve priority. These are triage questions, not findings about any particular machine.

Step 4: Contact Voidtrain support with useful details
If the crash persists after the steps above, contact the developer. Steam’s Voidtrain technical support page lists the official support email as [email protected] and names HypeTrain Digital as both developer and publisher. Include the following in your message:

- CPU, GPU and VRAM, and installed RAM.
- Storefront (Steam) and whether the game was installed through it.
- The exact error text or a screenshot.
- Whether the crash happens at launch or later, and what it follows.
- Which steps above you already tried, and their results.
The same support page links to community discussions and bug reports, and notes that developers often monitor discussions for issues. Searching there can show whether other players describe the same symptom. Those posts are useful for comparison, but they are anecdotes and do not establish a cause or a fix for your machine. No published response time or outcome is attached to the support contact.
