The car’s infotainment screen displays the games, while passengers use compatible smartphones as controllers. The vehicle must be parked to play.
Which Volkswagen models get AirConsole in the U.S.?
Volkswagen of America’s September 23, 2026 announcement names six model-year 2027 vehicles: Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport, Tiguan, Golf GTI, Golf R, and ID. Buzz. This is a specific U.S. launch list, not a promise that AirConsole is available in every Volkswagen or every EV. Access is included with the In-Vehicle Premium connected-services offer enabled through myVW+. Volkswagen’s U.S. announcement gives the launch models and service terms.
How AirConsole works in a Volkswagen
AirConsole runs through the car’s infotainment system: the dashboard display shows the game, and each player pairs a compatible smartphone to use as a controller. The U.S. announcement says no extra gaming hardware is required. To get started, install AirConsole from the in-car shop, then scan the QR code shown on the vehicle display with a phone and join the game lobby. AirConsole’s Volkswagen setup instructions describe the app installation and pairing process.
What games are included?
Volkswagen’s announcement describes a 20-game launch catalog, with examples including PAC-MAN Championship Edition, UNO Car Party!, and Tetris. Volkswagen-themed additions include a custom PAC-MAN version, Golazo!, and Memory Match. The available games and features can change; AirConsole says availability depends on the vehicle’s compatibility and other technical or licensing conditions. Its support information outlines factors that can affect availability.

Can you play while driving or charging?
No. AirConsole gameplay is restricted to when the vehicle is parked. It is not a game mode for the driver to use while moving. The U.S. announcement does not separately spell out charging-session rules, but a parked vehicle meets the stated use condition. AirConsole’s VW FAQ also describes parked-only play.
What does AirConsole cost after the included period?
For the named model-year 2027 U.S. vehicles, Volkswagen’s announcement says In-Vehicle Premium is included at no additional cost for three months after purchase for Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport, Tiguan, and Golf models, and for one year for ID. Buzz. Continued AirConsole access after the complimentary period requires an active In-Vehicle Premium subscription. The announcement lists that subscription at $149 per year for MY2027 vehicles. These are the terms Volkswagen announced for this launch; buyers should confirm applicable terms for their vehicle and purchase date with Volkswagen.

Why European availability lists differ
AirConsole has also been offered in Europe, but regional lineups and service conditions are not interchangeable with the U.S. MY2027 launch. AirConsole’s support page, updated August 11, 2026, lists European Volkswagen models including Golf, T-Roc, Tiguan, Tayron, Passat Variant, ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, ID.7, and ID.7 Tourer, with country and VW Connect Plus requirements. It also lists selected Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. See the AirConsole vehicle support list for the regional details. The earlier Volkswagen–AirConsole European partnership announcement likewise describes its own model and software scope.
For U.S. shoppers, the practical checks are the vehicle’s model year and infotainment compatibility, connected-service enrollment, and the terms attached to that specific vehicle. Selected compatible models and trims can also integrate some games with ambient lighting; that feature is conditional, not universal.
