In short
Rusted PackFile Manager: Rusted PackFile Manager is a broad, no-cost toolkit for Total War PackFiles. It combines archive editing with schema-aware database work, localization exchange, diagnostics, dependency checks and per-game MyMod projects. Automation users can use its documented WebSocket server, MCP endpoint with over 150 tools, and reusable Rust crates. Windows and Linux installation paths are defined, but macOS availability is conditional. The project directs users to its manual and Discord for help, while GitHub shows no security policy or advisories. It suits serious Total War mod projects that accept those limits.
UABEA: Windows and Linux builds, batch operations and an MIT license make it easy to fit into a personal workflow. The decision changes when the task depends on mesh pipelines, audio encoding, video assets or the newest Unity releases. Those areas have documented gaps and extra file handling. Treat UABEA as an editor for targeted changes, not a universal extractor or asset-conversion suite.
