Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader — Cassia’s Rifle-Related Face Bug

Players linked Cassia’s reported face distortion to holding a rifle. Changing her weapon was suggested as a workaround, but the current status is not established.

Players reported that Cassia’s face could become visibly distorted when she held a rifle in Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. The simple workaround described in the original discussion was to change her equipped weapon; the reports do not establish whether the glitch still occurs in the current build or on every platform.

What caused Cassia’s distorted face?

A Steam player reported on December 9, 2023, that Cassia’s appearance changed dramatically when she held a rifle. The discussion’s title joked that she had become a “properly mutated Navigator”; December coverage described an elongated jaw and protruding eyes. These were players’ reactions to a reported weapon/model glitch, not an official description of Cassia’s character or a confirmed effect of every rifle.

The reports concern a visual distortion associated with an equipped weapon. They should not be confused with Cassia’s fictional appearance as a Navigator, or with other, separate visual issues affecting her model.

How to try the player-reported workaround

  1. Open Cassia’s equipment and change her equipped weapon, for example, by returning her to her staff.
  2. Check her appearance again after she is no longer holding the rifle. A reply in the original Steam discussion said the distortion went away when she stopped holding the weapon.

This is anecdotal advice from a player discussion, not a verified current official fix. It may be worth trying if the same symptom appears, but the available reports do not show that it resolves every case.

What the patch reports establish—and what they do not

  • PiunikaWeb’s December 22, 2023 coverage said Owlcat had marked the face bug fixed in Patch 1.0.1. That is a historical report of a fix, not proof that every instance was permanently eliminated.
  • A Reddit post dated September 26, 2024, described a similar distortion in cutscenes while Cassia had a rifle equipped. This is a later player anecdote, not confirmation that the problem affects all players or remains in the current version.
  • Owlcat’s official Patch 1.2.0.25 notes mention a different appearance issue involving Cassia and a certain amulet, and say that issue was fixed. The amulet issue is separate from the rifle-related reports.
  • Owlcat’s June 11, 2026 announcement of version 1.6 does not establish whether the rifle-related glitch is present or resolved in the current build.

Taken together, these reports do not establish the bug’s current status across platforms or game versions. If it persists after changing Cassia’s equipment, check the latest patch notes or use the game’s supported bug-report channel; neither step guarantees a fix.
