Focus Entertainment says the overall scan damage bonus is smaller than before, so older perk recommendations and damage comparisons may no longer apply. The patch notes establish what each option does, but not a universally strongest build.
What changed to Auspex Scan in Patch 15.0?
Focus Entertainment’s Patch 15.0 notes describe a Tactical rework that changes how players can use Auspex Scan. Rather than treating every scan as the same team-wide damage multiplier, the new choices let you prioritize charges, coverage, damage type, or squad support. The notes also say the scan’s overall damage bonus is smaller than before, alongside changes to Tactical’s starting perk and weapon damage.
Focus’s stated balance rationale is that weapon damage had long been balanced around Auspex Scan providing a “x3 damage boost for the entire team.” The developer says it raised base damage for almost all primary weapons as scan efficiency was reduced. That is the studio’s explanation of its balance changes, not an independent measurement of typical player damage. Read Focus Entertainment’s Patch 15.0 notes.
Which Auspex Scan perks are available?
The Patch 15.0 notes list these Tactical perks and effects:

These are values and descriptions published in the official notes; they are not results from a controlled comparison of builds.
How should you choose an Auspex Scan setup?
Choose based on how you want the scan to work in a fight. The official notes describe the options, but do not establish which performs best in a particular mission, difficulty, weapon build, or squad composition.

For more frequent or flexible scans
Vital Data can return half a charge when you scan an Extremis- or Terminus-level enemy. Improved Efficiency instead shortens recharge time by 25%. Pulse Auspex changes the ability to two single-pulse charges, but each pulse has a radius reduced by 25%.
For a scan that follows your position
Mobile Auspex activates around the Tactical rather than relying on the usual placement, increases radius by 30%, and lasts nine seconds in total: the five-second base duration plus four seconds. It suits a player who wants to bring the scan area into the fight, though the notes do not quantify how that affects results in specific encounters.

For ranged damage against marked enemies
Marksman’s Mandate is the explicit ranged-damage specialization: marked enemies take 40% additional ranged damage, with a 50% base-damage increase stated in parentheses in the notes. Tactical’s starting perk also now lets Bolt Weapons penetrate one additional enemy and increases non-headshot damage by 20% for Bolter Weapons.
For melee and Gun Strike pressure
Bladesman’s Mandate increases melee damage against marked enemies by 60% and Gun Strike damage by 20%; the notes give a 50% base-damage increase in parentheses. Prime Target can add a Gun Strike mark to the most dangerous enemy in range when the scan starts.

For benefits shared inside the scan area
Strongpoint is the listed team-area option: you and squad members inside the scan area deal 20% more melee damage and take 20% less health damage. Its stated benefits depend on being inside the zone.

These are changes published in Focus Entertainment’s 2026 patch notes, not an independent estimate of total damage in a particular build. Because the scan perks and weapon values changed together, advice based on an earlier patch may describe mechanics that are no longer current.
What else changed for Tactical?
Warhammer Community’s report on the anniversary update, dated 1 October 2026, also describes the Tactical skill-tree overhaul, new melee options, and a Signature Perk that allows a regular Bolt Rifle in the secondary slot. Read Warhammer Community’s anniversary-update report.
Patch 6.0 is useful only as historical context: its notes documented fixes to incorrect Auspex Scan perk stacking and changes to individual perks, including a scan-zone duration extension of 40% at that time. Those older details should not be substituted for Patch 15.0’s reworked values. See Focus Entertainment’s Patch 6.0 notes.
Focus Entertainment’s official announcements also describe Crucible Penances, including Tactical challenges that can reduce Auspex Scan effectiveness. The official sources specify perk mechanics and the developer’s balance rationale; they do not provide a measured ranking of Auspex Scan builds or prove one is optimal across missions and squads. Treat the numbers as Patch 15.0 game-balance values, and check the latest patch notes before relying on them because balance can change.
