1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFor a level-40 Warrior preparing for Season of Discovery Phase 2, the main DPS target is Gnomeregan gear, with strong alternatives from professions, quests, PvP, dungeons, and earlier-phase drops. The current Wowhead guide, updated June 27, 2026 for patch 1.15.8, favors two-handed Arms and provides a separate dual-wield setup; its item choices are recommendations, not a guaranteed damage ranking for every build.
What Phase 2 Warrior DPS BiS means
Phase 2 raised the level cap to 40 and introduced Gnomeregan as its raid focus, according to Blizzard’s February 8, 2024 announcement. Warcraft Wiki describes the Season of Discovery version as a 10-player raid at level 40; that raid-size detail is secondary corroboration from the wiki.
There is no single mandatory route to a complete set. The recommended items mix Gnomeregan drops with crafted pieces, reputation rewards, quests, dungeon loot, and carryover gear. Treat the list below as a practical target set, not a requirement to replace every item before raiding.
Choose a weapon style before chasing gear
Two-handed Arms
The guide’s preferred approach is two-handed Arms, reflecting the availability of strong weapons and the specialization’s strength in this phase. It also highlights Deep Wounds as a meaningful contributor against Gnomeregan’s high-armor bosses. Its recommended two-handed target is Thermaplugg’s Rocket Cleaver from Mekgineer Thermaplugg. Pendulum of Doom from Uldaman and Whirlwind Axe are alternatives; Alliance Warriors can also use Bonebiter. Deadly Strike of the Hydra remains a Phase 1 carryover option.

Dual wield
Dual wield is still an option, and the guide lists a distinct weapon pair rather than treating the two-handed list as interchangeable. Its leading choices are Mekkatorque’s Arcano-Shredder from Mekgineer Thermaplugg and Sanguine Skullcrusher from Mai’zin in the Stranglethorn Vale event. Force of the Hippogryph is a Horde option, while Vanquisher’s Sword is another listed alternative.
Warrior DPS Phase 2 gear by slot
For each slot, the first item is a recommended target where the guide identifies one; alternatives can make more sense depending on faction, profession, availability, or your current gear.

| Slot | Recommended target | Alternatives and acquisition notes |
|---|---|---|
| Head | Tempered Interference-Negating Helmet (Blacksmithing) or Glowing Gneuro-Linked Cowl (Leatherworking) | Raging Berserker’s Helm from Herod in Scarlet Monastery; Chromite Barbute as a world drop; Twilight Avenger’s Helm as Phase 1 carryover. |
| Shoulders | Troggslayer Pauldrons from Grubbis in Gnomeregan | Failed Flying Experiment, a reward from Rescue OOX-22/FE! in Feralas; Machined Alloy Shoulderplates from Crowd Pummeler 9-60 as a survivability option. |
| Back | Drape of Dismantling from Viscous Fallout in Gnomeregan | Blooddrenched Drape from Mai’zin in the Stranglethorn Vale event; Sergeant’s Cloak from PvP rank 3 vendors. |
| Chest | Insulated Chestguard from Ziri “The Wrench” Littlesprocket in Gnomeregan | Shifting Silver Breastplate (Blacksmithing); Warforged Chestplate from Badlands quests. |
| Wrist | Berserker Bracers (plate) or Forest Stalker’s Bracers (leather), both from Warsong Gulch Exalted | Experimental Aim Stabilizers from Crowd Pummeler 9-60; Pugilist Bracers as a bind-on-equip option. |
| Hands | Machinist’s Gloves from Electrocutioner 6000 | Grubbis Grubby Gauntlets; faction-specific Pratt’s or Jangdor’s Handcrafted Gloves; Plated Fist of Hakoo as a world bind-on-equip item. Void-Touched Leather Gloves are a Phase 1 option. |
| Waist | Hyperconductive Goldwrap (Engineering) | Skullduggery Waistband and other Gnomeregan options; Power-Assisted Lifting Belt as a niche two-handed choice for weapon skill. The guide says the belt’s advantage over alternatives is small. |
| Legs | Insulated Legguards from Ziri | Scarlet Leggings from Scarlet Commander Mograine or Herod; Leggings of the Faithful as a Phase 1 option. |
| Feet | Highlander’s Plate Greaves at Arathi Basin Revered | Shinkicker Boots from Deliver to MacKinley in Tanaris; Insulated Workboots from Ziri; Twilight Avenger’s Boots as Phase 1 carryover. |
| Neck | Gnomeregan Peace Officer’s Torque from Mekgineer Thermaplugg | High Tide Choker from Baron Aquanis; Warsong Gulch Honored faction medallions. |
| Rings | Hypercharged Gear of Devastation from Mekgineer Thermaplugg | Warsong Gulch Honored Protector’s Band or Legionnaire’s Band; Band of the Iron Fist from the Blackfathom Deeps quest Allegiance to the Old Gods. The guide’s target is one Warsong Gulch ring alongside the new epic ring; it notes alternatives if the rare Scarlet Monastery: Graveyard ring is unavailable. |
| Trinkets | Gyromatic Experiment 420b from Mekgineer Thermaplugg and Avenger’s Void Pearl from Blackfathom Deeps | The guide identifies these as its two raid-DPS options. It also mentions the chicken trinket for niche cases, while noting that further testing is needed. |
| Ranged | Falco’s Sting from Viscous Fallout | Naga Heartrender from Lady Sarevess; Monolithic Bow as a bind-on-equip option. The guide considers Phase 1 ranged items acceptable because the new choices are not major upgrades. |
The item ranks and listed acquisition routes above come from Wowhead’s Phase 2 Warrior DPS guide, updated June 27, 2026. The guide identifies patch 1.15.8 and is a live reference, so check its item tables in game if loot availability or recommendations change.
How to weigh stats and alternatives
The guide favors critical strike slightly over hit in the specific context of Gnomeregan’s high-armor bosses and Deep Wounds. Hit is still useful before the soft cap because it supports a smoother rotation. However, Ring Runes may reduce hit’s value compared with the original Phase 2 assessment. Strength and Agility are described as nearly equal outside percentage-based stats.

Those are qualitative priorities, not universal stat weights: the guide does not provide a named performance statistic or numerical DPS gain that would support precise claims. Rune choices, weapon style, and the gear you already own all affect which replacement is worthwhile.
- Compare the actual stat trade: assess critical strike and hit in light of your rune setup instead of treating one item ranking as a fixed rule.
- Account for weapon style: the two-handed and dual-wield recommendations use different weapon targets.
- Include acquisition effort: a craft, reputation grind, quest reward, or available raid drop may be more practical than waiting for a specific rare drop.
- Keep useful carryover gear: the guide lists several Phase 1 items as viable, particularly for ranged gear and some armor slots.

Practical gearing order
- Set your playstyle: decide between the guide’s preferred two-handed Arms setup and dual wield before choosing a weapon target.
- Use accessible upgrades first: check crafts, faction rewards, and quest items against your current gear while pursuing Gnomeregan drops.
- Prioritize meaningful replacements: do not assume the Engineering belt or every listed BiS item creates a large gain; the guide specifically says the belt’s edge is small and preserves several Phase 1 options.
- Revisit hit after choosing runes: Ring Runes can change the value of hit, so make the final comparison with your actual setup.
