WARRIORS: Abyss is already out: KOEI TECMO announced its launch for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC via Steam on February 12, 2025, followed by Nintendo Switch on February 13 in Nintendo’s US listing. “Out Today” refers to that original launch announcement, not a new release today.
What kind of game is WARRIORS: Abyss?
Developed by Omega Force, WARRIORS: Abyss combines the Warriors series’ crowd-focused hack-and-slash combat with roguelite runs through Hell. Floors are randomly generated, and players fight waves of enemies while choosing items and building a team. Those changing stage and item choices can shape how a run plays.

It is a single-player game, according to its Steam listing. Its structure is built around repeated runs and adapting to the options available rather than playing through an identical sequence each time.
How does combat and team-building work?
You control one hero, recruit other characters encountered during a run, and summon allies into battle. KOEI TECMO says the roster contains more than 100 unique characters and that up to seven heroes, including the player character, can be active in battle. Allies’ Summoning Heroes actions and Unique Tactics can interact to create different team combinations.

Producer Kotaro Hirata described more than 16 billion potential battle-style combinations from selecting seven characters out of the roster. That is the publisher’s theoretical figure, not an independent measure of how many combinations are distinct or effective in play.

The publisher’s July 2025 update announcement describes the game as digital-only on PS5, PS4, Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC via Steam. Nintendo’s US store lists the Switch version as digital. These sources establish digital distribution, not a physical retail edition. Nintendo also says the Switch game is supported on Switch 2 with behavior consistent with Switch; that is a compatibility statement, not a separate Switch 2 edition.

What was added after launch?
In an announcement dated July 4, 2025, KOEI TECMO Europe documented a free update adding Ryu Hayabusa, Ayane, Rachel, and Momiji from Team NINJA, along with Training Hall and Void of Empathy modes and a Transcendence feature. The announcement confirms those additions as of that date; it does not establish that they are the game’s newest update.
The publisher’s update page also lists a Sealing Ceremony option for excluding unlocked heroes, formations, or treasures from a run. The version numbers shown there—PS4 01.09, PS5 01.006.000, and 1.6.0.0 for Switch, Steam, and Xbox Series X|S—are page-listed versions, not verified latest versions.
