The Warzone update’s biggest change was raising the Urzikstan Battle Royale lobby from 100 to 120 players; MWIII’s launch notes focused on new multiplayer maps, modes, and weapons. Activision published separate patch-note pages for the two games, and the details below cover their May 29 launch sections—not later Season 4 updates.
The original headline’s “Update 1.45” wording is not a universal platform build number established by Activision’s announcement. Activision identified the release as the Season 4 launch update.

Warzone Season 4 patch notes: what changed on May 29?
Warzone’s May 29 update centered on raising the player count in Urzikstan Battle Royale from 100 to 120. Raven Software said the change responded to requests for more action while seeking to preserve match pacing and balance matchmaking times and client performance. The studio wrote: “That said, player feedback continues to indicate a desire for more action.”
Supporting the larger lobby required adjustments to redeployment and the match economy. The Warzone Season 4 patch notes, credited to Raven Software, list the launch changes below.

#1 Best Overall
- Call of Duty: Modern Wafare II PS5
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is the sequel to 2019’s blockbuster Modern Warfare.
- Featuring the return of the iconic, team leader Captain John Price, the fearless John "Soap" MacTavish, the seasoned Sergeant Kyle "Gaz” Garrick, and the lone wolf himself, fan favorite Simon “Ghost” Riley, players will witness what makes Task Force 141 the legendary squad it is today.
- Some features may require an internet connection and an online subscription
- Gulag and redeployment: Gulag Tokens could appear at a low rate in general loot, with defined spawn rates in different chest types; they were also guaranteed from Most Wanted contracts and Buy Stations. Redeploy Tokens became legendary items with specified spawn conditions, while Redeploy Flares received controlled spawn rates.
- Match economy: Cash found in loot was reduced slightly, the number of Supply Boxes increased, Buy Station prices changed, and item rarities were adjusted.
- Urzikstan bunkers: Unlocked bunkers gained an escape hatch as an alternative exit, and some locations received new rewards.
- Gulag layouts: Four layouts were added.
- Buy Back Royale: The returning mode was listed for Urzikstan solos with 120 players. With the Gulag disabled, an eliminated player needed $4,500 to afford Cash Deployment, and Cash Deployments closed near the end of the match.
- Warzone Rewards: New challenge categories covered economics, contracts, social interaction, modes, and Champion’s Quest.
The Season 4 notes also listed the Superi 46 submachine gun and Kar98k marksman rifle as Battle Pass weapons, alongside weapon tuning across multiple classes. They announced eight Aftermarket Parts over the season; that is a seasonal rollout, not a claim that all eight were available on launch day.
Modern Warfare 3 Season 4: launch content and later additions
Modern Warfare III’s May 29 notes cover multiplayer content as well as Global and Zombies updates. The launch-day playable content should be distinguished from features the notes described as arriving later in the season. The Modern Warfare III Season 4 patch notes, credited to Sledgehammer Games, include these headline items:
Rank #2
- ADAPT OR DIE IN A FIGHT AGAINST THE ULTIMATE THREAT
- Combat means making choices — different loadouts, different paths through the mission. Combat missions that provide more player choice. There is no one-size-fits-all solution – it is your choice whether to take the stealthy approach or go loud taking on any and all foes.
- One of the greatest collections of Multiplayer maps ever. Launching with new Ground War maps boasting innovative play spaces and the epic return and evolution of the popular War Mode
- Maps: Tokyo and Paris were listed for launch. Incline and Das Gross were identified as in-season arrivals.
- Modes: The season’s mode lineup included Demolition, Hyper Cranked, Cache, Mutation, Headshots Only, and Havoc. Playlist availability could vary with weekly updates.
- Weapons: The Kar98k marksman rifle and Superi 46 submachine gun were Battle Pass weapons. The Reclaimer 18 shotgun and Sledgehammer melee weapon were in-season additions.
- Other seasonal content: The notes listed eight Aftermarket Parts for the weeks ahead, four Killstreak additions, the Mission Control Vest and Compression Plate gear, Operators, and Critical Countdown and other seasonal events. These were announced as seasonal content, not all as launch-day playable items.
The Global notes included fixes for first-person animation and customization issues. One listed fix addressed the JAK Glassless Optic unlocking as expected after purchase of a relevant Blueprint.

These are two separate sets of changes under the shared Season 4 rollout, not competing versions of the same patch. Warzone’s notes emphasize Battle Royale lobby size, redeployment, economy, map details, modes, and weapon balance. MWIII’s focus is multiplayer maps and modes, with additional Global and Zombies notes. Activision’s May 20 Season 4 announcement said the season began May 29 at 9 AM PT across platforms for Modern Warfare III, Warzone, and Warzone Mobile.

For the question “what changed in Warzone on May 29?”, the clearest answer is the 120-player Urzikstan Battle Royale lobby and the related adjustments to redeployment and the match economy. For MWIII, consult its separate May 29 patch-note section for launch content; both official pages also contain later Season 4 entries, which should not be mistaken for launch-day changes.
