What’s actually slowing this PC down?

If Warzone’s menu feels slow or its frame rate has dropped, first distinguish a rendering problem from online connection lag. On PC, Activision’s first recommended check is to stay on the main menu until shader preloading finishes; leaving the menu stops that process and can lead to performance issues. The available information does not establish that a particular recent update caused the symptom, or that it affects every platform.
First, identify what kind of lag you’re seeing
Low FPS means the game is rendering fewer frames or delivering an unstable frame rate. Connection lag is different: it can show up as delayed responses, rubber-banding, or stuttering during online play. Activision’s connection troubleshooting guide discusses latency, packet loss, and bandwidth; it does not say that a network change will raise menu FPS.
- Note whether FPS is low only in menus or also during matches.
- Separate choppy or inconsistent rendering from delayed online response.
- Record your platform and the update date or version you mean by “recent.”
Those details matter because the available troubleshooting steps below are for PC, while the title does not identify whether the affected player is on PC, PlayStation, or Xbox.
What PC players should try first
Let shader preloading finish
Activision’s Warzone PC troubleshooting guide, published March 11, 2026, calls shader preloading an important part of first boot. It warns that navigating away from the main menu stops preloading and can lead to performance issues. Stay in the main menu until the process completes before judging performance or moving on to other checks.

Check Windows and graphics drivers
Confirm that Windows is supported and up to date, then check Activision’s troubleshooting page for the current driver version that applies to your GPU. The March 11, 2026 guide listed AMD 25.12.1, NVIDIA desktop/notebook 591.59, NVIDIA workstation 582.08, and Intel 32.0.101.8531. These are dated versions, not a claim that they remain current; use the page to verify the applicable version now.

- Battle.net: use Scan and Repair.
- Steam: use Verify the integrity of the Game Files.
Activision lists these as PC troubleshooting steps. They are checks for file problems, not proof that an update caused the frame-rate issue.
Temporarily close possible software conflicts
As an isolation test, close NZXT CAM, MSI Afterburner, and Razer Cortex, which Activision names as programs that may conflict. Check whether the symptom changes, then reopen programs as needed. A change during this test does not by itself prove which program caused the problem.

Compare your PC with Activision’s requirements
Activision’s PC system requirements page, dated March 11, 2026, specifies desktop PC requirements. Its recommended tier targets 60 FPS in most situations with all options set high. The figures below are official baselines, not a diagnosis of a particular menu problem.
| Tier | RAM | Video memory | Storage | Other listed components |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | 8 GB | 3 GB | SSD with 116 GB available at launch | See Activision’s requirements page for CPU and graphics-card models. |
| Recommended | 12 GB | 8 GB | SSD with 116 GB available at launch | Targets 60 FPS in most situations with all options high; see the page for CPU and graphics-card models. |
| Competitive / Ultra 4K | 16 GB | 12 GB | SSD with 116 GB available at launch | See the requirements page for CPU and graphics-card models. |
Use the linked page for the full component specifications. Meeting a listed baseline does not establish the cause of a sudden menu slowdown, and these figures alone are not a reason to buy new hardware.

What the update information does—and doesn’t—show
Activision’s Known Issues page, updated September 25, 2026, describes issues identified or reported for investigation or planned fixes. Its displayed active entries do not include this exact menu-lag or low-FPS symptom. That absence does not show that no players are affected.
The Warzone support index includes Season 06 material, including information dated September 17, 2026. The displayed Season 06 patch notes do not identify a menu-lag issue or an FPS fix. These pages do not establish which update the title refers to, whether an update caused the problem, or whether a later update changes the situation.

If the symptom is online connection lag
If the main problem is delayed responses, rubber-banding, or packet loss rather than low rendered FPS, use Activision’s connection guidance. Its guide, last updated November 14, 2022, recommends a wired connection to help reduce potential data loss and notes that some routers offer Quality of Service (QoS) options. This is general network advice; it is not evidence that Ethernet improves menu frame rate.
Report the issue with useful details
If troubleshooting does not resolve the problem, submit it through Activision’s Warzone bug report form. Include your platform, update date or version, whether low FPS occurs in menus, matches, or both, and whether the symptom is rendering slowdown or online latency. For PC reports, note whether shader preloading finished and whether file verification or temporarily closing the named background programs changed anything. Activision’s PC crash-report route is for crashes, not a general FPS remedy.
