Yes. On February 12, 2025, GameSpot reported that GameStop had listed Digimon Story: Time Stranger for pre-order ahead of that day’s PlayStation State of Play. The game was officially revealed during the showcase. The listing was an early clue—not confirmation of every platform or release detail that emerged later.
What did the GameStop listing show?
GameSpot’s February 12, 2025 report said GameStop’s pre-order listings named PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of an unannounced Digimon game. When was the game revealed, and when did it release?
Sony’s State of Play on February 12, 2025, made the game’s title and reveal official. Bandai Namco later confirmed the initial release platforms and date: the game launched on October 3, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The publisher describes its story as spanning the human world and Digital World: Iliad. Bandai Namco’s launch announcement confirms those release details.

Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 versions followed on July 10, 2026. Bandai Namco announced Standard, Digital Deluxe, and Digital Ultimate editions for those platforms. Its Switch and Switch 2 announcement also describes Quality and Performance modes for the Switch 2 version.
What kind of game is Time Stranger?
Bandai Namco describes Time Stranger as a single-player monster-taming RPG featuring turn-based battles, Digimon collection, training, and customization. Lead Producer Ryosuke Hara wrote on the PlayStation Blog: “You can collect and train over 450 Digimon, each with unique traits and non-linear evolution paths.” The figure is the publisher’s description, not an independently verified count.

On September 3, 2026, Bandai Namco announced A Hero’s Eternal Legacy, a separate expansion planned for 2027. The publisher says it will add more than 50 Digimon and is planned for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and Steam. That is an announced schedule; Bandai Namco’s expansion announcement does not give a specific release date.
