What “recreating E3 2012” means
E3-inspired Watch Dogs mods aim to approximate the presentation shown before the retail release through visual effects and configuration changes. That is a visual target, not proof that the finished game reproduces the demo exactly. PC Gamer’s 2014 coverage of TheWorse Mod described an effort to enable E3 2012 visual effects, while also noting that the mod expanded into a wider graphics and performance package.
The distinction matters: a mod can alter the look of the retail game without restoring every element of a staged demonstration. The available Revival references do not verify a complete list of effects, settings, or included files, so specific features should not be assumed from the E3 label alone.

How Revival relates to TheWorse Mod and later merges
TheWorse Mod: a related visual-restoration effort
TheWorse Mod is part of the same history of attempts to bring Watch Dogs closer to its E3 presentation, but it is not a definitive specification for Revival. PC Gamer’s 2014 account describes TheWorse as growing beyond its original visual-effects aim to include additional graphics and performance changes. It also reports that the mod offered optional texture changes and a depth-of-field effect the reporter considered too strong for ordinary play. Those observations concern TheWorse at the time, not guaranteed Revival settings or current performance.
Later merges: potentially broader gameplay scope
A merged mod can combine visual changes with systems that alter play. The Nexus merge page references a broader mod lineage that includes Living_City and police or faction changes. That makes it important to distinguish a visual restoration target from a gameplay overhaul: a package bearing E3-inspired language may include more than presentation effects, depending on the particular version or merge.

Visual fidelity can come with trade-offs
More pronounced depth of field, lighting, reflections, or texture changes can affect visibility and performance as well as appearance. The historical report on TheWorse illustrates the playability trade-off: a stronger cinematic blur may look closer to a presentation target but make routine play less comfortable. There is no verified Revival benchmark or evidence that its settings match TheWorse, so treat such effects as possible choices rather than measured outcomes.

Mod files and compatibility can change with releases and game builds. The Nexus merged-mod page specifically advises choosing only one version and backing up the original patch.dat and patch.fat files before modifying them. That caution applies to the merge page’s instructions; it does not establish that every Revival release uses those files or that the steps are a universal installation guide.

- Open the current download page for the exact Revival version you intend to use and read its build-specific requirements and installation steps.
- Check whether the download is Revival itself or a later merge, and whether it includes gameplay changes beyond visual effects.
- Follow the version’s own backup and file-replacement instructions. If its instructions mention
patch.datorpatch.fat, preserve the original files before making changes. - Do not combine multiple variants unless their authors explicitly say they are compatible; the Nexus merge page advises selecting one version.
The indexed Guru3D thread is useful for the project’s historical trail, but its current contents and instructions are not verified here. For a working install, rely on the current mod page’s instructions rather than assuming an older forum post or a related merge describes the present release.
