Then try the developer’s reversible checks: turn off VSync, confirm your system time, and launch with DirectX 11. If the game still fails, verify its files and check for software or device conflicts. These are recommended checks, not guaranteed fixes.
Check whether your PC meets the game’s requirements
Compare your hardware with the published Windows specifications before changing settings. The game’s listing says integrated graphics are unsupported; a PC marketed as a gaming computer is not enough to establish that it meets the requirement. Steam’s We Were Here Together listing gives these specifications:
| Specification | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | 64-bit Windows 10 | 64-bit Windows 11 |
| Processor | Intel Core i5 4000 series or equivalent | not stated (Steam listing) |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics | Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB or equivalent; integrated graphics unsupported | GTX 1660 Ti or equivalent |
| DirectX | Version 11 | not stated (Steam listing) |
| Network | Broadband internet | not stated (Steam listing) |
| Storage | 20 GB available space | not stated (Steam listing) |
These are the product’s published specifications, not a diagnosis of a particular crash. If your PC is below the minimum, the listing does not establish that any settings change will make the game run reliably.
Try the developer’s crash and launch checks
Total Mayhem Games’ support article covers crashes at launch, in cutscenes, and during gameplay. Work through these checks one at a time so you can tell whether a change helped. Read the developer’s We Were Here Together troubleshooting guide.

Confirm the game is using a dedicated GPU
The developer advises meeting the minimum requirements, avoiding integrated graphics, and keeping the graphics driver up to date. If your PC has both integrated and dedicated graphics, check that the game is assigned to the dedicated GPU in your graphics settings. The exact menu differs by hardware and driver; the support guidance does not provide one universal path.
Update the graphics driver
Install the current driver for your graphics card using the card maker’s supported update method, then restart the PC and try the game again. This is a recommended check, not proof that an outdated driver caused the problem.

Turn off VSync
Disable VSync in the game and in your GPU control software, if it is enabled there. The developer lists this among its stability checks; it does not say that VSync is the cause of every crash.
Check the computer’s date and time
Make sure the system clock and time zone are set correctly. This is a developer-recommended check for crashes, although the support article does not identify a specific clock error as the cause in every case.

- Couples Card Game Built for Real Relationships – Trusted by 10,000+ couples who know not all couple games are built equal, this couples card game puts 150 romantic conversation cards in your hands for exactly those nights when you want something better than whatever you've been half-watching for two weeks, built for how you two actually talk: playful when that's what the night calls for, deep when you're both ready for it.
- 5 Categories, 3 Depths, 150 Cards – 150 cards across five categories and three depth tiers means no two sessions ever land the same way: Reflections, Pillow Talk, Deep Dive, Future Us, and Wildcard each take you somewhere new, while Light, Medium, and Deep tiers let you decide how far the conversation travels tonight, making this one of the most replayable card games for adults and adult card games for couples with a dot system on every card so nothing interrupts the moment you're already in.
- Built for Both Partners, Including the Reluctant One – Pass, Switch, Reverse: three Control Cards built for the partner who needs an out, giving both of you real say over where the conversation goes so the session stays fun for everyone, including the one who took a little more convincing to sit down in the first place.
- Conversation Starter Cards That Make You Both Lean In – Every question in these conversation cards for couples was built to make your partner say something that surprises you, the kind of answer that makes you put your drink down and think wait, I didn't know that about you, and whether you've been together eight months or eight years, there is always more to discover when you have the right questions for couples, more than a relationship card game that never goes deep enough manages to surface.
- Questions That Open Doors Without Walking Into Walls – Co-developed with licensed therapists specifically so the questions lead to genuine and intimate conversations without making anyone feel like they accidentally signed up for a session, because the difference between a question that opens a door and one that quietly ends the night takes actual expertise to get right, and the result feels like the best dinner conversation you've had in years.
Try DirectX 11 through Steam
- In Steam, open your Library and right-click We Were Here Together.
- Select Properties, then open General.
- Enter
-force-d3d11in Launch Options and close the Properties window. - Launch the game and see whether the issue changes.
The developer suggests this option when a graphics API selection prompt is unavailable. If it does not help, remove -force-d3d11 from Launch Options to restore the previous launch setting.
Check installation files and possible conflicts
If the game still crashes or will not open, the developer suggests checking file integrity on Steam or Epic, running the game as administrator, disconnecting unnecessary USB devices, and disabling overlays or other software that may interfere. Steam’s general guidance for games that fail to launch also recommends updating Windows and drivers, verifying files, and disabling non-essential software. See Steam’s troubleshooting guidance for games that fail to launch.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Separate a local crash from a co-op connection problem
A launch failure or crash is different from trouble joining a friend or using voice chat. Steam says both players need a working PC-compatible microphone and an internet connection to play co-op. The developer also warns that public networks, including campus or library networks, may block access to voice servers. That warning applies to voice or server connectivity; it does not establish why a game crashes locally.
Best Value
- A Game of Clever Wordplay: Dirty Minds is a clue-and-guess party game. Each card presents a series of double-meaning clues that point to one simple, ordinary word or phrase. The correct answer is always common and non-suggestive.
- Compact, Travel-Ready Design: The game fits easily in a bag or suitcase for game nights away from home. Box dimensions: 7.4 x 4 x 1 inches.
- Simple Rules, Fast Rounds: Players take turns reading clues aloud. The first person to correctly identify the intended answer scores points and moves closer to winning.
- Complete Card Set: 112 cards total, including 56 clue cards (5 clues plus 1 answer per card) and 56 scoring cards: 5 Wild Cards, 5 Take Two cards, 5 Lose a Card, 6 "–" cards, and 7 each of "D," "I," "R," "T," and "Y" cards used to spell out the win.
- Suited for Adult Social Gatherings: A popular choice for group game nights, celebrations, and other adult social settings. Intended for players ages 17+.
If the game opens but co-op voice or server access fails, check the microphone and connection, and try a non-public network if available. A microphone is a co-op requirement, not a fix for a crash.
Contact the developer if the checks do not help
If Steam’s general launch checks and the title-specific steps do not resolve the problem, contact Total Mayhem Games at [email protected]. Describe whether the game fails to open, crashes during a cutscene or gameplay, or only has a co-op connection issue, and list the checks you have already tried. The available support guidance does not specify a required crash-log checklist or establish the cause of an individual failure.
