Echoes are collectible equipment in Wuthering Waves that you can obtain by defeating Tacet Discords, then inspect and manage through the game’s Echo menus. Some featured Nightmare Echoes have a separate daily route: Nightmare Purification lets you claim the corresponding Echoes without spending Waveplates. To choose what to equip, compare the game’s recommendations and Sonata Effect information with each Echo’s mainstat and substats.
What are Echoes in Wuthering Waves?
Echoes are part of the game’s collection and equipment system. You can collect them and equip them to Resonators. An Echo’s mainstat and substats are among the details to consider when comparing options, while Sonata Effects provide another consideration for a build.
How do I get Echoes?
Defeat Tacet Discords
Defeating Tacet Discords can produce Echo drops. Kuro Games’ Version 3.2 patch notes describe the drop process: the game first checks whether the defeated enemy produces an Echo. If it does, no Enhanced Absorption attempt is deducted. An Echo drop guaranteed by a quest also does not use an Enhanced Absorption attempt.
The cited notes do not give the base drop rate, a universal guarantee, or a total number of Enhanced Absorption attempts. They also do not establish every current way to obtain Echoes, so treat Tacet Discords as a documented route rather than a complete route list.

Use Nightmare Purification for featured Nightmare Echoes
Kuro Games’ Version 2.7 update notice documents Nightmare Purification as a route for featured Nightmare Echoes. A set number of Nightmare Tacet Discords are available each day; defeating them lets you claim their corresponding Echoes without spending Waveplates. The notice does not specify the daily number, and this route should not be taken to cover every Echo.
How do I choose which Echo to equip?
Open a character’s Echo Assembly interface to review the available selection aids. The Version 2.1 patch notes document Echo Suggestion, which presents recommended Echoes and Sonata Effect information, along with filters for Echo equipment by mainstat and substat.

- Compare an Echo’s mainstat and substats with the needs of the Resonator you are building.
- Consider the Sonata Effect information alongside the individual Echo’s stats.
The Version 2.1 patch notes describe these as interface features; they do not provide a universal ranking or build-specific best-in-slot list.
How do I manage unwanted Echoes?
Echo inventory features documented in Kuro Games’ Version 3.2 patch notes include filters, batch discard and lock, Smart Discard, management plans, and an option to auto-discard non-5-Star Echoes. Check the current in-game menus before using automated discard settings, since patch-note interface details may change.

The Version 1.3 patch notes also document Data Merge, which can process up to 100 Echoes at a time, and a discard marker. That 100-Echo figure describes the documented batch capacity, not an acquisition limit. See Kuro Games’ Version 1.3 patch notes for that version’s feature description.

The cited official notices do not establish a current, exhaustive list of Echo routes, a universal drop rate, a guaranteed number of drops, the number of daily Nightmare encounters, or all unlock requirements. They are patch notices rather than a complete current Echo manual. Verify activity availability and menu labels in your current game version, especially when following older patch-specific feature descriptions.
