The standard Nintendo Switch – OLED Model box includes the console, an OLED dock with a built-in wired LAN port, both Joy-Con controllers, two wrist straps, a Joy-Con Grip, the Nintendo Switch AC adapter, and an HDMI cable. It does not include a game, microSD card, carrying case, screen protector, Joy-Con Charging Grip, or Ethernet cable. This list describes the standard retail set; special bundles and regional packages can differ.
Standard Nintendo Switch OLED box contents
Nintendo’s U.S. support page lists the following equipment in the standard Nintendo Switch – OLED Model set. Printed information or setup materials may also be present, with names and contents varying by region and packaging version. What is not included?
The standard console set does not include:
- A game card or digital game. A game or download code may be included in a separately advertised special or promotional bundle, but not automatically with the standard hardware set.
- A microSD or microSDXC card. Storage expansion is optional; Nintendo lists support for microSDXC cards up to 2 TB, sold separately. Nintendo’s Switch FAQ provides the storage guidance.
- A carrying case or screen protector. If buying a protector, make sure it is made for the OLED Model; protectors for the original Switch or Switch Lite may not fit correctly.
- A Joy-Con Charging Grip, Pro Controller, or additional Joy-Con controllers. These are separate accessories.
- An Ethernet/LAN cable. The OLED dock has a LAN port, but the cable is separate; Wi-Fi does not require one.
- Headphones or a headset.
Nintendo lists the Pro Controller, Charging Grip, carrying case, screen protector, and other accessories separately. Retailers may add their own extras, so check the exact listing rather than assuming an add-on is part of Nintendo’s standard package.

- Handheld: Attach the included Joy-Con to the console. You do not need the dock, HDMI cable, or a TV.
- Tabletop: Set the console on its built-in stand and use the Joy-Con. The included straps can be attached when appropriate for play.
- TV: The necessary dock, AC adapter, and HDMI cable are included. Connect the AC adapter to the dock’s USB-C power port, plug the HDMI cable into the dock port marked HDMI OUT and the TV’s HDMI input, place the console in the dock, then select that HDMI input on the TV. - Wired internet: Connect a separate Ethernet cable to the dock’s LAN port. A cable is not needed for TV output or Wi-Fi online play.
The included Joy-Con pair can serve as two separate controllers in select games, but multiplayer requirements depend on the game. Some modes or larger groups need additional controllers, systems, games, or online access; the box is not a guarantee that every multiplayer game is ready for two players.

Used or open-box OLED: completeness checklist
For a standard set, check for these eight equipment items:
- OLED Model console (model HEG-001)
- OLED Model dock (normally model HEG-007)
- Left Joy-Con
- Right Joy-Con
- Two Joy-Con straps
- Joy-Con Grip
- Nintendo Switch AC adapter
- HDMI cable
Check that the dock has the OLED dock’s LAN port rather than relying on color alone, and confirm the adapter is present. If possible, test that the Joy-Con attach and charge with the console and that the dock produces HDMI output on a TV. Missing the dock, adapter, or HDMI cable means the system is not complete for TV setup; missing the Grip or straps does not prevent handheld play. Look through cardboard inserts and dock packaging before concluding something is missing. For a new purchase, contact the retailer first; support options for missing parts depend on region, warranty status, and purchase documentation.

Which add-ons are actually useful?
The standard set has what you need for handheld, tabletop, and TV play. Extra purchases are optional and depend on how you use the system:

- Screen protector: A sensible protection choice for a portable system, but verify OLED Model compatibility.
- Carrying case: Useful for transport; check the fit, since the OLED Model is slightly larger than the original Switch and has a wider rear stand.
- microSDXC card: Useful if you download games or need more room beyond the console’s built-in 64 GB. The card is sold separately.
- Joy-Con Charging Grip: Consider it if you want to charge detached Joy-Con while holding them in Grip form. The included standard Grip does not charge them.
- Pro Controller: An optional comfort upgrade for longer TV sessions, not a setup requirement.
- Extra Joy-Con: Useful only for games and group sizes that need more controllers.
- Ethernet cable: Needed only if you want a wired network connection through the dock.
Standard set, special bundles, and regional differences
White and neon red/neon blue standard OLED sets include the same basic equipment; the console and controller colors differ. Themed or promotional bundles may add artwork, a game code, or a Nintendo Switch Online membership, while retailers may add their own case, card, or other extras. Check the exact product description for what is included rather than applying the standard list to every bundle.

Packaging and power accessories can also vary by country. In particular, buyers considering an imported unit should check that its AC plug suits their market and understand the relevant warranty coverage. Documentation and regional inserts are not identical worldwide.

The OLED dock normally included with the console is HEG-007 and has a wired LAN port. That does not mean an Ethernet cable is in the box. Nintendo also sells docks separately; a standalone dock listing is not a complete console set and may not include controllers, an AC adapter, or an HDMI cable. Nintendo says Switch docks can be used interchangeably, though using the wired LAN feature with an original Switch may require a system update; see Nintendo’s FAQ.

Likewise, the included Joy-Con Grip and the optional Joy-Con Charging Grip are different accessories. The first simply holds the controllers; the Charging Grip adds charging capability. Nintendo’s accessory list treats the Charging Grip as a separate product.
