Contemporary reporting also identified him as a lead level designer on Diablo IV while it was in development in 2021. He is not the voice actor for the Overwatch character that once shared his name: Blizzard credits that role to Matthew Mercer.
Jesse McCree’s documented game credits
The credits vary in strength and wording. Blizzard manuals provide primary-source credits for two World of Warcraft releases; the additional titles below are listed in MobyGames, a secondary credit database. Its entries include both specific production roles and broader acknowledgments, so they should not all be read as equivalent evidence of hands-on design work.

What do the other listed credits mean?
MobyGames also associates McCree with Overwatch, StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm and multiple World of Warcraft releases. Some entries are strike-team, thank-you or “Blizzard Development Family” credits rather than a named design position. The database lists 24 credit entries across 20 games, but that is a count of its catalog entries—not an official, exhaustive résumé or a measure of the extent of his contribution.
Was Jesse McCree a developer on Diablo IV?
Yes. Contemporary reporting identified McCree as a lead level designer on Diablo IV during its development. In August 2021, The Washington Post reported that Blizzard confirmed he was no longer working at the company. The available reporting establishes his role at the time, not whether he completed the game or which specific elements he worked on.
