If you forgot both your Epic Games password and the email address on the account, do not create a new account or pay a third-party “recovery” service. First try signing in with a linked PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Steam, Google, Apple, or Facebook account. If that fails, search for the account email using your Epic display name or Account ID, then use Epic’s recovery process if you cannot access the mailbox.
- Try every linked external account.
- Check an Epic session that is still active.
- Use Epic’s forgotten-email search.
- Reset the password after identifying and accessing the email.
- Submit an official account-recovery request if necessary.
Before you start: identify which problem you have
“I forgot my email” can mean three different things:
- You do not remember the address, but you can still open the mailbox.
- You remember the address, but you can no longer access the mailbox.
- You neither remember nor can access the address, or someone changed it.
The first situation may be solved by Epic’s email-search tool. The second usually requires recovery through your email provider before you reset Epic’s password. The third requires Epic’s account-recovery process and, if the account was compromised, additional security steps.

1. Try signing in with a linked account
This is usually the fastest option because a previously linked account can let you access Epic without entering the Epic email and password. Open the Epic Games sign-in page and choose the icon for the provider you used:
- PlayStation Network
- Xbox or Microsoft
- Nintendo
- Steam
- Apple
Authenticate with that provider’s own credentials. This works only if the external account was previously linked to the Epic account you want to recover. A console login is not automatically the same thing as your Epic account credentials.
Check that it is the right Epic account
A linked login can open a different Epic account from the one you intended. After signing in, verify the:

- Fortnite, Rocket League, or Fall Guys progress
- Owned games and cosmetics
- Friends list
- Purchase history
Do not unlink the platform while troubleshooting. Unlinking can create additional access and progression problems.

2. If you are still signed in, do not sign out
Check any browser, Epic Games Launcher installation, console, or other device where the account is already open. Do not sign out merely to start an email search.
- Open Account or Account settings.
- Look under Account information for the partially hidden email address.
- Open Password and Security and set a new Epic password if the option is available.
- Confirm or update the email address if Epic permits the change.
- Enable two-factor authentication and review linked accounts and security activity.
Epic’s email-change guidance recommends using an incognito or private browser window for a separate recovery search while keeping the existing session open.
3. Find the forgotten Epic email address
Use Epic’s “I don’t remember the email on my Epic Games account” flow. Depending on what you know, it can search using:

- Your Epic display name
- Your Epic Account ID
- The display name of a linked console or social account
If Epic finds a matching account, it sends a message to the associated email address. It does not necessarily display the complete email publicly, so this method helps only if you can access the inbox receiving the message.

Search your own records too
- Search every likely inbox for
Epic Games,Fortnite,Epic Games Store,security code,email change,receipt, orinvoice. - Check saved usernames and passwords in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, iCloud Keychain, Google Password Manager, or another password manager.
- Review Epic, console, payment-provider, and app-store receipts.
- Check a device where the Epic account is still signed in.
- Ask the owner of a linked account to confirm the display name or account ID, never the password.
If no email arrives, check spam, junk, promotions, filters, blocked senders, and mailbox storage limits.
4. Reset the Epic Games password once you know the email
When you have identified the address and can open that mailbox, follow Epic’s password-reset instructions:
- Open the Epic sign-in page.
- Enter the email associated with the account.
- Select Forgot password? when prompted for the password.
- Enter the security code sent by email.
- Choose a new password that meets Epic’s displayed requirements.
- Confirm the change and sign in again.
Epic sends a confirmation message after the password changes. This resets only the Epic Games password. It does not change the password for Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Steam, Google, Apple, or Facebook.
5. If you know the email but cannot access the mailbox
Recover the email account first. Use the provider’s password-reset page, backup email, recovery phone, authenticator app, trusted device, or identity-verification process. Epic cannot restore a mailbox controlled by Gmail, Microsoft, Apple, Yahoo, or another provider.

If the provider cannot restore access, open Epic’s sign-in recovery flow and choose the current equivalent of Lost access to this email address. Epic may ask for a new email address that you currently control so it can contact you about the request.
6. If you remember neither the email nor the password
Use this sequence:
- Open a private or incognito browser window and ensure no other Epic account is signed in.
- Run Epic’s email-search flow with your display name, Account ID, or linked-account display name.
- Check saved credentials, old inboxes, receipts, and purchase records.
- Try each previously linked external account from Epic’s sign-in page.
- Open Epic’s account-recovery guidance.
- Choose Recover account or Lost access to this email address, depending on the options shown.
- Submit the full recovery request if self-service recovery does not work.
Epic’s labels and page layout can change, so follow the closest current option shown on the official site.

Use Epic’s official account-recovery request. The form may let you provide a new contact email and can ask for information such as:

- Current or previous Epic display names
- Epic Account ID
- Invoice IDs from Epic purchases
- Current or previous email addresses
- The country selected when the account was created
- Approximate account-creation date
- Linked PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Steam, Google, Apple, or Facebook details
- Console gamertag, PlayStation Online ID, Nintendo Account name, or Steam profile
- Approximate dates when accounts were linked
- Whether those accounts are still linked
- Payment methods and purchase records
- Games, cosmetics, and other details that distinguish the account
Provide accurate information and skip anything you genuinely do not have. An Account ID or invoice ID can help Epic locate the account more precisely, but neither guarantees approval. Recovery depends on Epic verifying ownership, and Epic does not promise a fixed review time.

Do not send unnecessary sensitive information
Use only the official Epic form. Do not provide your email password, console password, two-factor authentication codes, or full payment-card number. If a receipt is requested, share only the relevant transaction information and redact unrelated sensitive details.
8. If the account was hacked or its email was changed
Treat this as a compromised-account case rather than an ordinary forgotten-password problem.
- Secure the email account first: change its password and enable two-factor authentication.
- Try signing in through a linked external account.
- If you regain access, change the Epic password and inspect the account email and linked accounts.
- If the email was changed or access remains blocked, submit Epic’s compromised-account request.
- After recovery, set a unique password and enable two-factor authentication again.
Because the email account is central to account security, securing it before Epic recovery is important.

A failed search does not prove that the account was deleted. Try:
- An older email address or the original display name
- The linked-account display name or identifier
- Your Epic Account ID or an invoice ID
- A private browser window if the current browser is signed into the wrong Epic account
- Old receipts for exact account and transaction details
Avoid repeatedly submitting random guesses. Epic says some recovery steps have submission limits; if the form displays an error, wait and try again later with more accurate information.
10. Console-only, child, and Cabined Accounts
If the console account itself is inaccessible, contact the relevant console provider as well as Epic. PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo control their own sign-in credentials, so Epic cannot replace a lost console login.
Child and Cabined Accounts may have different features, parental-consent requirements, and support routes. Involve the parent or guardian associated with the parental email address and follow the account-specific prompts Epic provides.
